If you are selling at a big retailer they will give you full price only if you are ready to exchange it for jewellery, for cash they will charge some percentage. You can sell it at small shops for full price, but you have to find the right shop
Personally, I don't think that it would be a worthy effort for couple for hundred bucks (assuming the price stays the same and you are buying around 2 gms, based on the 1K discount offer)
The purchase is good for longterm investment, not for quick buy & sell
