Hard disk is a delicate product. Even if it’s new, If it gives an error once its error frequency increases rapidly. Buying a renewed harddisk will be a wrong thought.
*Based on personal harddisk experience. My hardisk crashed 2-weeks back. Luckily got it replaced under warranty on 27th. Warranty end date 29th.
