I disagree. Using this from more than 5 years and this is one of the best flash drive out there. Very solid build, not some cheap plastic. Speed is quite good
It is physics, metal is much better conductor of heat than plastic & any usb device generates heat depending on read write speeds so more the speeds more will be the heat. Good quality plastic pen drive simply means it will have better inbuilt thermal throttling protection to slow down the speeds once temps cross a critical point during operation instead of keep running at full speeds resulting in shorter life span/risk of failure during such operations.

Before they were @ 70-75% off when cloudtail was still alive... P.S. buy metal ones or different brand. Speed is not much and plastic body gets too hot cuz of cheap plastic quality (results of cost cutting)

I've older SanDisk ones that were not flimsy. The newer ones are flimsy.

You can buy recently manufactured ones and then tell

Actually that sounds true BUT I've one PNY metal pen drive which gets close to glowing hot 😄 after few GB data transfer

That's what it was supposed to do. Any metal casing is supposed to get hot which indicates it is transferring all that heat from whatever is inside the metal casing. If a metal casing remains cool/not hot then it means it is not doing its job properly of transferring heat from inside the metal casing.

I got it for 349rs with indusind card, average variable read and write speed is around 10mb per sec, considering the price i guess its not a bad deal

Bought this and I can confirm that it's cheap plastic. Old ones i have are more solid and better quality ones. Just talking about build not the performance.

Metal ones get very heat, not recommended for who watch movies or listen music by connecting, only for data transfer fine.
