Thanks for sharing. @cocay
Should one purchase warranty for this product?
If you are aware, How one can upgrade warranty for this or are there any offer to purchase warranty too?
My HP x360 bought in 2016 proven to be one of the worst purchase I ever made. I bought that from Croma in 56K.

No idea about warranty yet. Mine is expected to be delivered on 17th. Once delivered, I’ll call Lenovo to register warranty and enquire about extended. You should call them too. Don’t buy extended from flipkart or amazon.

Personally, I wouldn’t extend warranty by paying money. One year is enough to test hardware durability. If it has to go bad, it will in one year. Beyond that its all luck based. Most components within laptops are plug and play. If anything goes bad, just buy the component and replace yourself. Unlike mobiles, disassembly of laptops is very easy.
The only things that broke down in my previous thinkpad over 6+2 years were keyboard and trackpad ( due to ribbon cable) and ram. Replaced ram, bought wireless k/b and mouse.

Edit: the HDD also failed SMART features after 5 years rendering it unusable as bootable drive. Using it now as a backup drive.

HP service is very good but once warranty ends then it’s almost impossible to arrange for spare, my local vendor told me that Dell and Lenovo are best in terms of parts availability. (my 1 cent on vendors)

Just got it delivered. Why you should NOT buy this laptop:

1. RJ45 Port is badly designed. The pull down mechanism, although works, is very very stiff. If somehow you are able to connect the Ethernet cable, it’s next to impossible to get it out. This is likely to break pull down mechanism in a couple of uses for sure. If you plan to use Ethernet Port, this laptop is NOT for you.

Will update more negatives as and when I come across.

@any1 @Suman_Kolkata
@ r3d-d3v1l can you confirm if your laptop’s rj45 port is fine or as bad as mine? It is not a big deal for me as I’ll never use this port. Never used in 6 years in my previous one either

Dear @cocay

My laptop is not delivered yet.
Definitely I will check the RJ45 port functionality and will let you know.
It may take another 3/4 days to deliver.

By the way, from your personal experience do you think it’s a good purchase @ 30K? Share your experience please.

@cocay Yes, you are right that the Ethernet port is a little stiff. I didn’t pay attention to that as I haven’t used a wired connection in a long long time. Upon seeing your post, I did check that out and while a little stiff, I think it’s still fine. It did help to pull it down manually from the opening, while keeping the laptop sideways. Not a perfect solution I agree, but wouldn’t impact wireless users much. Thanks for bringing it to notice though.

Yup, it works, just a bit stiff. Most people use it in office environment only. I had seen several other users also complained of the same.

Build quality is decent, keyboard experience is nice, display is good, viewing angles are good too. Good deal overall. I’m now finding the screen a bit small though. Should have bought 15" probably.  Any takers? Lol

Laptop runs above 55-60 degree on flat surface. (Bad thermal)
Touchpad is made of rubber like surface with coating instead of mylar/plastic. ( Feels even cheaper than Asus/Dell touchpad )
(my advice – use trackpoint as much as possible because Indian moisture/grease will wear coating within 6 months)
Linux support is excellent. (tested on 20.10/pop)
Hinge does not feel strong.
LCD Bezel is very delicate , you will be amused comparing it with rest of the laptop.
Horrible backlit bleeding/ IPS glow. (This IPS will make you love TN display)

Now good –
Built like tank, Sturdy, Will surely survive couple of falls.
14’’inch screen in 13.3 form factor.
Trackpoint.
Lenovo ventage configuration
Best BIOS in Industry.
No thermal throttling.
No backlit/ But you can replace keyboard if you want one(Additional cost)
