Waiting for it. Been almost 3 years for my redmi note 5 pro and it’s due for an update.

hmmm😑 so it seems one has to title it upcoming (or be a President, Brigadier) for it to be allowed to slip through.
now that you mentioned that other person, it seems they already updated their thread on this product too

Me too planning for one of device… 5 pro to thiss…but only if it’s 5G
I think it’s not 5g
May be 730g processor
Why you guys want 5G? Do we have 5G in India? No! 🤔

This is my backup phone that eill easily last 3 years. Looking at recent developments, there seems to be a good chance of 5G going live in 1 year so it’s worth considering a 5G phone if it doesn’t cost much.

Rumours say 10 pro max might support 5G. Other good option would be the follower to poco X3 in months to come.
Hope they do launch a 5g variant at an affordable/reasonable price.. with those sales it might push operators to really launch 5g in a year or so. Every new tech has the issue of adoption and if large number of 5g handsets are already being used then hopefully 5g shouldn’t be too far away

Which update ? Miui 12
kiranparepally wrote:Which update ? Miui 12
Miui 12 already rolled out for RN5P

I know that bro, I’m using it as my second device. He said it’s due for an update – I thought he’s waiting for an update, but he meant upgrade in mobile
kiranparepally wrote:Which update ? Miui 12
Change the phone to a new one is what I meant

there are two (rather extreme¿) ends of the spectrum.
some are

while other consumers prefer to sit it out,

You’re right on that part. But, their phones will become obsolete once the rollout begins, and if the price would be comparatively more than 4G, then most of us would prefer to ‘sit it out’.
We don’t even know the potential of 4G, because we don’t even real 4G speeds. Then why bother about 5G?
My friends living in western countries are getting 200-400megabits/ second on 4G/ LTE. I live in a metropolitan, and I get like 25-30 mbps. So, it’s better to improve 4G rather implementing 5G. May be I am contradicting myself because 5G ‘spectrum’ uses different radio frequencies, which may help in boosting the speed.
Just my opinion.

Actually current 5g will be just an upgrade to 4g only. Its not all about frequencies but its the whole architecture and lot more.
Currently I think only lower fq. bands will be used which will be similar to current 4g fq. bands in spectrum. The higher frequency bands are still under research which have huge capabilities(talking about Ghz range) but don’t think will be implemented soon.
Talking about speeds in western countries don’t think we will get it even with any generation anytime soon
Lot of reasons for that first will be load on towers as he have got huge population and very high population density. Next I think is mostly there have a Wifi connection which again reduces load on these cellular towers.
I am sure there are many more but we pay nowhere close to what they pay for it and still speeds are pretty decent as its been just few years that this system has started up building so very optimistic about it.

I agree !
