This is not a popular device AFAICT. Xiaomi might move it to EOL status sooner compared to say F5. Both software support period and availability of spare parts will be affected. Although you could just buy a spare battery and keep it in reserve. 

Custom ROM development for MTK devices in general is extremely poor. Xiaomi's naming convention is super confusing and I haven't been able to find if there's any XDA forum for this device! Only it's codename:pisarroproin. 

In any case so far Kernel SU is not available for any MTK device. That is a deal breaker for me personally as KSU is currently the best solution to hide root from apps. No app AFAIK has been able to detect root where KSU is the root provider. So they are changing tack to detect unlocked bootloader (workarounds exist) and other apps which require root to work (mostly not an issue).

Bhai not considering to install any custom ROM. Have no issue with MIUI. Using F1 as it is. Was fascinated after heard about bypass charging but didn't consider it as custom rom comes with some issue like banking app detecting root and all and looking for solution on forums. Need a no nonsense phone prebuilt
