Hot Deal 10 yr old Laptop went blank all of sudden

My 10 year old compaq laptop went blank all of sudden while I was working on it. Now it just blinks keyboard, wifi light once and nothing happens. I have already opened up and closed but no luck. Not sure if graphic or screen is the problem. Any thoughts? Please help🙏

If you have a DVD Drive, you can swap that with a HDD Caddy…Then remove your HDD from the motherboard’s port & insert the main HDD in the HDD Caddy…

Now the main hard disk slot will be free where you can install an SSD…

If you don’t have a DVD Writer or optical drive bay & your laptop uses only one Sata port for HDD, in that case, you won’t be able to install an SSD while keeping the HDD…In that case, you will need to remove the HDD & replace it with an SSD…

Tip : Use your main HDD in the HDD Caddy & the SSD in the main Hard disk slot & not the other way round…If you keep the SSD in the HDD Caddy, the SSD may not perform optimally…Also buy a good quality HDD Caddy & not some random crap…I am using Silverstone HDD Caddy which I had bought from Prime ABGB…

As long as both sata ports are same specifications then it shouldn’t matter. My 4th gen core i laptop has both ports sata 3 so no performance difference between using ssd in hdd bay or caddy but older models used to have slower sata 1 port in optical drive bay so there it will be an issue.

I personally have one 15" Core i5 6th Gen Asus & an MSI 17" GT Series Gaming with i7 4th Gen…In the 17" one, I did not have to remove the DVD-RW as almost all 17" laptops naturally come with atleast two Sata HDD ports…Now-a-days, we also have crazy fast M.2 PCIE X4 NVMe SSDs & corresponding slots in the higher end laptops so even the Sata SSDs have become slower now lol…

You can download & benchmark your SSD using the hugely popular Free SSD Benchmark tool named AS-SSD & it will show you if you have the same performance of the SSD both in the caddy & in the HDD slot and even if the optical bay supports the latest Sata 3.0 6GB/s, I believe you will still find the SSD to be running a lil’ slower in the caddy…

Maybe ram isn’t inserted properly…. Take out and insert again… If you got two try swapping them…

1. Clean Ram with rubber the golden part which goes into socket due to carbon the ram may not be functioning or clean with wd40 or isopropyl (99% ) on whole ram ….

2 . Some issue in board some connection may be loose…

3. Whichever company’s laptop u have there is specific pattern for blinking of light according to that problem occurs …
Check that ….

That laptop was too good for that price, its gone OUT OF STOCK now. within 2 hours.

The specification of that laptop sucks big time…It’s not 1980’s…No-one should buy CELERON based laptop in 2021 & that too from a company no-one ever heard about…Period…

If you don’t know much about computer specs, you can go ahead & buy personally but do not misguide other dimers who want quality stuff & can afford that…

Do you even know what Windows 10 Home S is ?? It’s limited to very few apps & if you buy this, you can NOT use any 3rd party apps & you will be limited to very few apps which you can only download from the Microsoft store & not normally from 3rd party sites…
