AC fitting extra charges

First of all, Basement is not the recommended place to install the outdoor unit and it should be installed in open area.

the standard rate for copper pipe in the market is Rs.700 per meter but from last year the price of copper was increased so it can be upto Rs.800 per meter. The long piping can cause the leakage of gas from the joints after few years. In that case, it would be better to take an additional warranty for your AC.

The installation from the third party will void AC warranty and also If the installation of AC is not properly done then it can cause many problems in the future. So it should be installed by well experienced people or from the Voltas (in your case)

The guy who called me for installation was not from voltas. He is from 3rd party agency. May be from Jeeves (Flipkart).

Even if we take 800rs./meter that will cheaper than what this guy is quoting – 300/ft.

Can I call voltas & ask for their installation price in this case ?

i suggest you call voltas customer care and ask for installation or their authorised dealer where your warranty won’t go void. Take quote from 2-3 guys and proceed

The installation will be done by Jeeves if the AC is purchased from Flipkart but it’s your choice, Voltas can also install the AC after registering the installation request from them. I will suggest you to compare the pricing for the installation from both companies and then book the installation request.

I got my ac installed from 3rd party and i don’t think it voided any warranty. Even company official came for a certain problem but he didn’t said anything regarding the installation done from 3rd party or official.

Yes looks like. I asked same to voltas cc, they denied any such clause of void of warranty if installation done through 3rd party. 

Looks like flipkart is playing this void of warranty game to get business for jeeves ?

I found this link of jeeves for installation cost. However i couldn’t understand exact pricing for extra copper pipe…

Install via voltas CC not jeeves 

Copper pipe from brands come around 280-300 per feet 

Cooling efficiency  will be lost for 50 feet pipe. Plus you also need wire extension which will add to cost 

Installation via local guys will void brand warranty

Not right, flipkart is earning high commission this way. Best is to get it done from manufacturers installation. Unless it’s a mara product where jeeves is the sole provider. 

The price seems about alright. It’s generally Rs. 800/meter for copper pipe and Rs. 100/meter for the electrical cable. Both together, it will be the same price as you are quoting.

As such, increasing the distance of piping so much will reduce the efficiency and increase the power bill too. See if there is any other alternative.

Why do you say that there is no space nearby to install the outdoor unit? Is that what the installation guys said?

@raghupro Thanks. Sorry for dumb question but for what this electric cable ? From indoor unit along with copper wire this electric cable also goes to outer unit ?

I asked voltas CC, they told 885rs./meter (750+GST) for copper wire. Does that includes electric cable also or that will be separate?

I had purchased two ac, jeeves guy told me please reject schedule installation for 2nd ac i will come privately and fit it for low price. 

So you can check with ur local area technician also, but he should be experience else small issue in installation will increase problem.

There is a separate electric cable which goes from indoor to outdoor unit, it comes along with AC as the same length as copper pipe which is 3 meters. If it exceeds 3 M then the cost of this wire will be added in the installation charges. 
Rs.885 is only the cost for Copper wire per meter, you’ve to pay extra charges for electrical wire, the market price is 100 to 120 per meter.

Bcoz there are other offices at rest of 3 side while at front side in lobby above few ft. Of the lintle level, builder has put plates which has small holes for provision for AC. But that part doesn’t have any ventilation except those small holes. So builder & AC guy told that will make outer unit too hot.

My requirement will be just to run AC for 1 or 2 hr. In a day. Can I put outer unit at such place ?

Can those plates be removed so that the hot air from the outer unit’s fan directly goes outside the building without any obstruction?

Ideally outer unit should be in an open space.

Thank you all for ur valuable inputs. Finally I installed my AC in basement (As no other option was there) & paid around 14k for installation. Cooling looks fine as of now…
