Consider 2 scenarios:

1. Normal vegetarian, plant basedĀ diet without extra virgin olive oil

2. Normal vegetarian, plant based diet + olive oil.

All else remaining same, if I add olive oil additionally in diet, it will definitely increase calorie intake. But will have any health advantages? Note that I am not replacing mustard oil with olive oil. I am adding olive oil as extra addition.

I don't think u need olive oil if you are living in north.mustard is best (assuming pure)

U can use it for massage.

Oil = fat, so basically if u consume u will increase your faT intake.

Also u can't replace mustard with olive as the heating/smoke point of bothare diff.

Olive oil is not used for cooking, u can use it for dressing over salad ,etc

Insted of olive oil just put a little exercise in your diet...

Adding oil on top of oil does not make sense as it will increase your fat intake.

Olive oilĀ Ā  importsĀ  in IndiaĀ  is of cheapĀ  qualityĀ  . BetterĀ  useĀ  sesameĀ  oil , mustard oil , coconut oil , groundnut oil.Ā  AtleastĀ  these can be extracted from seeds if one wants from any nearby mill orĀ  lots of brands ofpure unadulteratedĀ  virgin oils availableĀ  for it.

The lower the edible oil consumption in diet, the better for health. Ghee/oils are 100% fat regardless of the source, which ultimately deposit in your blood circulation veins and arteries, thereby increasing risk of heart attacks, blockages and reduced lifespan.

Although some oils also contain very small quantity of poly unsaturated acids (PUFA) which can convert bad cholesterol to good cholesterol which reduces the tendency of deposition of fats in the blood circulation arteries. Olive oils are known to have highest quantity of such PUFA in addition to rice bran oil and mustard oil. As olive oils are too costly, substituting them with cheaper rice bran or mustard oil or sunflower oil is advisable, as there is not significant difference in their PUFA contents.

Extra virgin olive is used in Salads, pure olive oil in regular cooking and pomace oil for high temperature deep frying. If you have enough money you can substitute your existing oil with olive oil but do not add this additionally in your diet.

Total nonsense, havoc created by new age doctors and modern lifestyle influencers. Family members in villages have been taking ghee, mustard oil, sesame oil and others since ages and all lived above 90. They are also eating jaggery, sugar cane juice, full fat buffalo milk/cow milk. This all happens due to sedentary lifestyle & adulterated oil/ghee. not because of eating these fats. Don't eat this don't eat that. Everything is fine in moderate quantity along with exercise or that type of work. Don't restrict yourself, eat cheese, butter, oil, ghee, milk but of good quality in moderation along with physical work/exercise. Our body is totally capable of digesting it.

"Pomace" Olive oil is actually industrial waste. It will do more bad than good. Virgin olive oil is good - but only if you are into salads and use it for salad dressing.

For typical Indian cooking, any cold pressed eatable oil (pl note eatable and not just edible) ieĀ  Seasame oil, Mustard Oil etc is good enough. Good old home made ghee is also good, as long as you use in moderation.

Avoid all "edible" oils as most of them as available in India contain chemical residues from the refining process.

Replace a part of the your diet with baked/roasted/boiled food and fruits to reduce the oil intake.Ā
