I’m planning a 4-week international trip across Europe and the Middle East and need advice on the best cards for:

a) POS transactions
b) ATM withdrawals

Cards I currently have:

  • SBI Cashback, HDFC (Infinia, Tata Neu Infinity), ICICI (APAY, Sapphiro (Dual)), RBL World Safari, Axis(FK, Airtel) , Kotak Myntra
  • SBM Niyo Bank Debit Card (used for ATM withdrawals a couple of years ago and found it smooth back then

Would appreciate suggestions based on current exchange rates, transaction fees, and other perks for these or other recommended cards!

Thanks in advance!

I am not sure if I can answer this question but I have Niyo Global DEBIT card (didn't care for credit yet) and Fi Money Debit too and in terms of ATM withdrawal, Fi Money charges seems cheaper at 200+ GST per withdrawal while Niyo is Rs. 425 + GST.

The problem with Fi, I already have a Federal Bank issued OneCard which I missed adding in the list. They aren’t issuing for existing Federal bank holders.

And may I know your what is the issuing bank for Niyo card?

SBM Niyo Bank Debit Card worked for me everywhere in Europe and Turkey for POS transactions.

Make sure you do re-KYC on it, and it takes a week to activate International transactions.

Oh great, they had some ban in the middle for SBM version and they had an association with equitas /dbs afaik. So wasnt sure on whether SBM was working for international still. Back then they restricted it for domestic use alone.
