Want to buy a geyser. But I heard that Havells have very poor after sales service? Is it true?

Anyone personally used service of Havells?

Or do you suggest Crompton or (AO Smith) if that is better in After Sales service?

Both are good brands but crompton use good quality parts whereas can't say about havells. Most of electrical parts including geyser I have been using are cromptons brand. Till date no issue I found so far. Havells has large market share so definitely chance of low grade spare parts to maximize profits. Every established brands doing the same. Once a brand established itself in market they start using low quality spare parts. Xiaomi is a good example.

Very informative answer. KG.

But instead of spare parts, have you also tried after sales service of Cromton vs Havells vs AO Smith (specifically for geyser)? Sometimes the customer care itself is very poor.

Got both crompton and havells for about 6 years now. Crompton never faced any issue. Havells had an issue initially due to faulty installation by their technician. Raised complaint, rectified within 48 hours. It was under warranty when raised the complaint.

Do you think buying offline is better for geyser? Maybe due to carrying damages changes or some other reasons?

last month we had an issue with AO smith geyser after 3-4 years, after raising the complaint technician visited within 2 hrs and fixed the problem (it was out of warranty), overall very much satisfied with AO smith service

Purchased Havells. Very poor service experience. The guy installed but there was some fault for which I kept following up and requesting a visit. Havells guy didn't come for visit for 4 days!!

Pathetic.

Warning to all: avoid havells whenever possible.

Not aware of Havells, ever since the ceiling fan fiasco.

(Location was within 700 meters of a major railway station, in New Bombay... 8-8½ years back).

.

Stayed clear of the A.O. Smith, Morphy Richards.

.

In water hearters/ boilers.. in the post liberalisation era.. Spherehot and Racold.. in India.

.

Spherehot and Bajaj brand bowlers and clothes irons were a staple in our homes.

Gradually Bajaj electrical became a trading company (just marketing the stuff made by the contract manufacturers).

.

Spherehot products still give good service life, without failing.

.

However, for residential use water bowlers (ve it instant or those mini 3 litre ones or full fledged 15-20 liters capacity).. we have not looked beyond Racold.. in past couple of decades.

.

Did not require after sales service for Racold.. except for with Racold Fonte (baby unit/ instant/ pass through boiler).

That too because the toggle switch for kW load selection was over used or had moisture seep in and corrosion somehow affected the electrical point.. leading to arcing.

.

Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals Limited: all kinds of fans.. like exhaust fans, ceiling fans, wall mount.

Remote and without remote.

Water cooler type units at relatives too have worked fine.. so not sure of how their after sales support is.

(Service centres are third party/ authorised and thus not standardised in their handling of the customers).

.

But if you are not looking for something jazzy like 'gas powered' bowlers or new-age.. technology heavy geysers/ boilers with digital dials, digital displays..

.. then in the conventional products and may be even in the new-age ones... Racold .. knows the dedi requirements and psyche very well.

They know the power quality (or lack thereof), the water situation and how people sometimes simply never shut the unit off.

.

They (Racold) have in-house R&D team, while also importing technologies, if needed.

And are not a trading company. They make most, if not all, of the components themselves.

.

P.S.: This is not an advertisement for Racold, CG or Spherehot.
