Dumped 2 Airtel sim's that were being used (spare.. not really used as such but was kept active by recharging 49/79/99 every month)  in our house.

Accha hua, yeh tin ki smart dabbe sab ke hath mein uth gaya tha, jise zaroorat bhi nahin tha uska bhi aur bure kaam mein phas gaye, character faltu bana diya, health bhi ujaad dii, ab yeh tin ki dabbe mein kuch band hoga... Accha hai. Let the undeserving and unneeded get a good life, out of these tin boxes...

Maximum undeserving, half or uneducated phone users have turned prostitutes due to social media and smartphone boom... Now let them go bust...

I have a airtel no which I keep recharging every three months just to stop it from getting permanently disconnected. For this purpose what's the minimum recharge i must do? Will a simple 10 rupee talktime rechrge do, or is it must to go for those which have service validity?

Airtel doesn't disconnect even if no recharge is performed in over a year. If the number is even remotely important you need to recharge with minimum Rs 155 every 90 days or so and make calls/send SMS or use data. Indian telcos don't seem to rigorously follow the rule of Rs 20 deduction from main balance to extend SIM validity by 30 days as long as sufficient balance is available. For the time being Vi still offers Rs 99 pack with 28 days validity but no OG SMS. In case of Jio, Rs 119 pack with 14 days validity is available which offers 1GB/day and 100 SMS IIRC. Incoming calls/SMS never seem to stop. I am porting out my banking nos. to Jio one after the other.

What about these plans. Airtel launched these 2 plans newly?

These aren't 'new'.

These were there before.

Doing it for a number from a circle where they have been removed, would 'fail'.

Both 128 and 131 are working fine, in select circles.

But there is some confusion about the 99 plan.‏
