Airtel Money Wallet changed their MCC code to 6540 - PARTY OVER

Did 2 transactions just now and both had Airtel Money as Merchant name and Razorpay as gateway, for the 2nd txn of ₹210 I opted for "Complete Payment on Bank's page" and there also AIRTEL PAYMENTS BANK LTD was showing so clearly the end of this trick.

I think you'll get the CB because yesterday I got the message for eligibility. Do the transaction and check the statement next month 😉

How u got to know MCC code?

I didnt even know there was a party with Airtel Wallet 😪

Will be getting cashback only on credit cards will still reward on Wallet loads like HDFC Millennia, IDFC, BOB Eterna, etc.

No cashback for other credit card and 0.5% - 1% surcharge on few cc like Onecard, RBL, Yes Bank.

Since the merchant name is AIRTEL PAYMENTS BANK LTD, the MCC must be 6540 (wallet load, prepaid instruments, etc) or BFSI - 6010, 6011, 6012.

It's definitely not under Utility MCC anymore because for I am getting cb confirmation msgs on my Axis Ace for all transactions even for utilities.

If anyone has Millennia prepaid card here do try the transaction it the show the MCC code on screen.

Just did 2 txns via SBI will check here after few days to confirm that under which category the Airtel Money / Airtel Bank spends are getting categorized.

Used SBI card (100 for test), money debited but not added to apay balance "failed", let's wait for refund...

EDIT, airtel wallet balance shows the 100 money loaded as balance, payment for apay money failed...

Tried with almost all credit cards and same Airtel Payments Bank Limited is showing everywhere. One thing is clear for now that cards that give RP on Wallet Loads are useful now for this.

How did you get PayU gateway? Could you tell the details steps? Getting only Airtel Money merchant name.

Yes, retry. Also, do not enter otp and leave the razorpay gateway... try after minimum 1 hr, may get other gateway. Also, I think time of the day has a factor in this...

Also a TIP : Every payment gateway has a daily maintenance window, so the merchant switches to alternative one for that period (some hours)... try finding out that window for RazorPay... @KingRocks

Also, many subsequent failed transactions make the switch to alternative gateway sometimes...

I tried multiple times no luck.!
