airtel sim suddenly stopped working

My airtel number shows full network coverage, but calls and sms are not working (incoming/outgoing). When I try to make a call, I get the error ‘Not registered on network’. Tried all the basic troubleshooting measures (restart phone, network reset, eject and re-insert SIM, manually select network, etc.) Tried using SIM on other mobiles, still no use.
It seems my SIM has suddenly died. Did anyone else face such issues? Based on reviews of airtel stores on google maps, it seems this is a common phenomenon.
This is my primary SIM which I use for bank OTPs and hotspot (don’t have wi-fi at home). My city is under full lockdown, so airtel stores are also closed.
Airtel is facing this issue of simcard short circuit. And you have to replace sim card i too have faced same kind of issue a month ago. You can get new sim at airtel store keep your old sim otherwise they will charge you 25 rs. Try sim card home delivery service or replace at local shop.
I replaced 3 SIMs with similar issue recently. Last one just hours before the statewide lockdown came into effect. All barely 2 years old.

How long did it take to change the SIM cards after submitting application? Do we need to submit any proof?
Just couple of minutes like 30min to 4hrs. Aadhar Card is the document that you can carry.

Rs 25 is the official price. That’s what I was charged. It’s also mentioned in the SMS that Airtel sends after the application is processed successfully.

Hackers will get access to your OTP s in such case.
In such cases u won’t get any kind of network it will show registration failed or something like that

That’s the message he is getting in his mobile, registration failed. However some error should also show up on the network signal icon on top of the mobile, if the sim is officially deactivated

Good work…..
aam_aadmi wrote:Yes, that's the message I'm getting. Also, the SIM doesn't show any network on other mobiles as you mentioned. So it seems apart from the SIM fault my mobile also has an issue, it shows full signal even when no SIM is inserted! Now I'm starting to think maybe both these issues are related. Few days back I was going through the SIM toolkit app ("Airtel Services") too see if I can stop those annoying service messages which display remaining balance after every outgoing call/SMS. I sent a request to stop airtel now! service and tinkered around with few other options. I wonder whether that triggered this issue. Anyways, I've had no luck getting the SIM to work again. CC mailed that I have no other option apart from visiting a physical store, but complete lockdown has been extended till June 7th! Can't find any umbrella shop either.

Once my father’s sim was not working I transferred all the balance to my account then in few days the problem got resolved .
Just checked bank accounts, everything is fine as of now. Instead of transferring, I’m thinking of putting the balance in 1 week bank FD while waiting to get new SIM

last recharge kb kiya tha ..
This month only bro, 28-day pack, it’s still active, checked on airtel app.
It happened with me twice. With my Vodafone sim. It worked again 6-8 hours later. Tower issue not SIM

Very true. Many types of financial ( bank/ Wallet) frauds involve sim swap

But is umbrella shop sells it? Generally umbrella shop sell umbrella they don’t sell sim cards. Mobile shop or gallery sells sim cards
I had to give 150 for BSNL duplicate sim after original sim stopped working few days ago

Bur customer executive told that u will be charged 50 for duplicate sim in Airtel store and local retailers charge 💯 for private companies and 150 for BSNL (as it still requires physical documents submission)

Is it possible to get home delivery of duplicate sim in this case?

I have a family postpaid plan and saw this on one of my sims, they made me visit their closed shops to do SIM replacement, finally gave them an earful on 121 and threatened to port to jio post which they have agreed to home delivery of replacement sim
