Purpose of Post is to Educate dimers about new modus operandi by FRAUDSTERS.
Today at 3:39 PM I received a call from +919830965949 , caller from other end said she is speaking on behalf of Jiomart marketing team & I am one of the 20 winners selected for Gift from Jiomart; I have to select any 1 gift from the following 5 gifts:-
a) Dell Laptop
b) Sony Bravia 43" inch 4k Smart TV
c) Iphone 12
d) Voltas A.C.
e) LG Refrigrator
Usually I don’t pickup unknown numbers but Today I did. Reason why I didn’t cut the call within 1 minute because “she clearly mentioned 2 items of my last order along with total order amount”
Speaking further she said in order to claim the gift I have to place an order of Rs.5,000/- on jiomart & they will provide 2,500/- as jiomart cashback as to verify that gift is claimed by actual winner only. I said them to provide me further details like: email from official id, social media post etc. of promotional offer/campaign. She said she will provide me what’s app message [SS attached with the post]. She started describing the details of each & every prizes & said I have to select anyone at that moment only & will have to place an order by telling them the items for Rs.5,000/- order. [& At this MOMENT I knew someone is messing with me]. I said that I will place an order on jiomart website but they said NO they will provide me link on my what’s app no. & I have to pay from that link. I said how can I verify that “Link will not be of any other person & how can I ensure that you are speaking on behalf of jiomart only” for the above question she said I know you must be thinking that we are doing fraud with you but that is not the case, we are providing you these gifts because it will increase our sales from word of mouth advertisement & said merchant name would be of JIOMART only. You can verify by clicking the link. [NEVER EVER OPEN ANY LINKS from unknown persons – is a MOST BASIC Info. which everyone should have]. But when I asked them Why you can’t verify my order from official jiomart website she said please talk to our senior she will explain in detail. Her senior said since it’s a promotional offer payment has to be made on specified link only. I started asking more questions about the link & my call was transferred again.
At last, after 27 minutes & transferring calls to >3 agents. I ended the call. After 2 minutes again received the call & they said due to network issue call was cut & whether I want to proceed further or NOT? & I said Definitely I will proceed further with CYBER COMPAINT. 😂
P.S. – Called them again regarding cyber complaint but call was forwarded & the person [another one] speaking on other end said to make complaint anywhere I want & said you have lost prize. He was so much confident that at one moment I was like what the HECK!!
Also, Not gonna lie at one moment I was like YEAH!!! Finally I have WON something BUT THANK GOD I was in my senses & saved myself from one of the fraud.
Attached what’s app message received from them. I will be forwarding this whole message to jiomart CC also. Checked number on truecaller no info was received other than location of number which is Kolkatta.
My ONLY concern is that “How did they know the details of my last order along with items that I have ordered?” and “whether anyone from jiomart/ cc team /reliance retail /delivery team is attached with these fraudsters”.
Not filed any complaint till now… Whether complaint can be filled for crimes which are not committed or is there anything else which can be done from my side?
There is a popular and similar scam going on from ages with snapdeal where after ordering something, you will get call claiming that you have won scorpio or something. They even verify details of your order. This is happening because of 3rd party distributors. Same is with jiomart (I guess). Delivery person is no where related to jiomart, jio hires 3rd party for delivery. Maybe that is where data has leaked

It was my first ever experience with FRAUDSTER’s on call. Didn’t knew about these scam before as popular one is UPI related & SIM change/block related.
But anyhow there is data leak from jiomart end, have written to them & will update here if any reply is received.

Delivery guy or courier delivery companies share your details.

even I had received a call few days ago and I didn’t hung up because she mentioned that I have ordered something from jiomart (which I prefer rarely)
but I hung up the call saying please keep your iPhone n tv with you… I don’t have anything, give me 5000 to order.
When ever you get link, just copy and open in incognito, by looking at the link in detail we can say fraud or genuine. Waste of time to speak with them.

In true caller it’s updated as online shopping i wil report this as fraud and spam.
Firstly, if there was any such contests where company is spending money in Lakhs, they would announce it big, so that they get the relevant output of it. It would never be specific to individuals. Many get scammed out of lotteries too. One has to understand, if there was no contest that you participated in, how would you Win?

complain to JIOMart on twitter with all the proofs images etc

Also we shouldn’t entertain such unknown numbers. Report on WhatsApp and also report on Truecaller and Google Dialer.

Same happened with me 2 months back in the name of “Goqii” company…
Received 2-3 calls to place an order worth 5000/- from link sent by them on call… When I done click what I am browsing she getting tracked instantaneously…. So I have told I will place order soon…. and disconnected… So she asked when will I call you tomorrow ?… I told I will place order soon… But calls are getting daily .. I don’t lift…
So beware … If you click on link sent by them then your device is rooted to their system and even they can take your selfie 🤳… So don’t lift calls from unknown numbers and don’t click on links you receive through sms…and unknown e-mails…..

Yes will not entertain anyone in future it was a good lesson…. I have reported both numbers [1 from which call was recd & other from which message was recd] on Truecaller & Whatsapp.

Interesting is that they Jio actual cc email for complaints

thanks god someone addressed this, I got a similar call today, Truecaller showed west bengal,
they knew my address too, they knew my last order, I reported on truecaller but it was scary,
