Otherwise you have to go nearby brick and mortar stores and they will charge you by MRP .

It can be justified against inflated and manipulated MRP on online shopping.
I need not say how mrp is manipulated by online sellers and big shopping chains.

// Amazon.com Inc has been repeatedly accused of knocking off products it sells on its website and of exploiting its vast trove of internal data // ^^ This is the truth, no one's gonna admit ( its obvious, almost all websites use internal data to benefit their business But " Manipulating search results " is false/dumb allegation. The reason why these inhouse brand products show at the top is because of the popularity ( Purchase count / Ratings / Reviews ). People prefer to get products from AmazonBasics, Solimo over random unknown brands.. so they filter the search results and make the purchase!

I think manipulating search results is absolutely possible here. Perhaps, Amazon could be held guilty as well.

Suppose there’s a really popular product of a lesser known brand with little to no competition. (Amazon can easily track this) Naturally, it will rank higher in search results.

Now, if Amazon creates a replica(Solimo) of that product, it can easily outrank the original product. For ex: It can stuff better keywords into it’s product description/title by exploiting users data.

Keyword or what user searches to land on a product (Again Amazon knows and stores everything) is the most important factor for ranking on any search engine/platform. Using these data, Amazon can not only manipulate his it’s own search results but also manipulate Google SERPs too.

Same for flipkart as well, that’s how these giants earn profits via separate entities and still show losses on papers.
As a consumer (and a dimer moreover) , try to balance out between price and quality and don’t just buy the first product that amazon shows smile

Nothing wrong for the common man as they get to buy the same item for cheap. But if you are an intellect and your ideas get stolen and duplicated, it hurts your morale and detracts your life purpose.

All great ideas sparks out from the intellect of a single person’s mind , even if you often see a bigger team implementing it.

In totality the world loses out on more innovation from the same person, when products get duplicated,

i see how unethical that thing is but man i gotta say amazon basics, solimo, vedaka, presto, inkast products are really good for the price.
few months back i read an article where some indian brands and SETHjis were angry that amazon were creating their own products. the more these brands and local shopkeepers feel the heat, the happier i am.
for example vedaka canola oil is such an awesome product. till last year i used to get 5l for 650-700 rupees. saffola gold pro max prime is a mix of cheap rice bran or soyabean oil with sunflower oil and they have the audacity to sell it for 220 rupees/liter.

lately vedaka canola oil is out of stock so while checking jio mart i saw something, jio’s own brand good life oil and saffola’s oil have almost same list of manufacturers. one manufacturer makes oil for multiple brands and label them with different labels. good life’s label for same oil(not blended oil) is cheaper and saffola’s label is costlier. on checking the manufacturers on india mart I found that they even provide labeling and branding services too LOL. same goes with mustard oil. since it is the most common oil in India so brands with word of mouth like saloni, engine, haathi charge premium like 200-250 but you can get dabur’s cold pressed mustard oil for around 170 on amazon which according to my mom is way better than others. i hope amazon launches their own mustard oil and undercuts the others.
