Yesterday i bought Samsung M33 by exchanging redmi 9 prime. The delivery boy asked me to install amazon app during exchange on the redmi phone and shared some 6 digit software verification code which he asked me put and press verify button. But it kept giving me error that the imei or model is not right and verification failed. We tried 3-4 times by uninstalling app, resetting phone and everything. But it did not go through. I verified the email from amazon that gives my IMEI , Model everything and all looked perfect. The phone still has IMEI sticker and original box but still it could not verify. He said i have to contact customer care and left.

I called CC they said they cannot help as it is delivery issue. I am confused, if no one is able to help whose responsibility is it?

I cancelled that order (after delivery boy left saying, sometimes it happens if the details are not updated correctly by backend) and placed new order and delivery is scheduled for today.

I gave IMEI 1 number on the exchange option (amazon advises to use IMEI 1) , so no issue there. Will putting SIM on slot 2 during verification cause any issue

Anyone faced this kind of issue? how do we handle or overcome?

PS:- My phone is genuine and not tampered and bought from amazon on 20-11-2020.

Changing sim slot won't cause any issue but this issue is happening everywhere

I hope you gave all the permissions to the app like reading Phone Calls/SMS/Location/etc. and making sure WiFi, Bluetooth, Location, etc all are ON. Looks unnecessary, but works sometimes. 😄

Dont format the phone... Before performing this check..... After entering the otp... Then only format the phone or uninstall the amazon app..... Keep the phone in original state while u ordered..... Then only this error wont come... I have faced this issue... And this is the solution.... It worked for me twice

@playdime Were you able to exchange the phone? What were the steps?

Just placed order for Tecno Camon 20 with Exchange offer and have received email from Amazon to have the Amazon app installed in phone. I have already formatted the phone, so need to install the app. Also placed order from my device (this is my spouse phone), so worried if it will be rejected!

2. Sign in Google account, install Amazon app and login from the same account from which order was placed and then sign out of your Google account.
3. Sign out of all other accounts on the old phone (e.g. Google/Apple account) and remove screenlock/password and accessories such as screen guard

Another thing, should I format the device again after entering the OTP or just logout from Amazon app?

Yeah! I followed all the steps mentioned still i could not. I left it. Not sure where the problem is.  🤞 . Hope the issue is rectified now yours will go through.
