धम्म दीक्षा के उपरांत महाराजा ने प्रतिज्ञा किया कि आज के बाद हम शास्त्रो से नही बल्कि शांति और अहिंसा से प्राणी मात्र के दिलो पर विजय प्राप्त करूँगा। इसीलिए सम्पूर्ण बौद्ध जगत इसे अशोक विजय दसमी के रूप में मनाता है।लेकिन ब्राह्मणो ने इसे काल्पनिक राम और रावण कि विजय बता कर हमारे इस महत्त्वपूर्ण त्यौहार पर कब्ज़ा कर लिया है।
जहां तक दशहरे की बात है तो इससे जुड़ा तथ्य यह है कि चन्द्रगुप्त मौर्य से लेकर मौर्य साम्राज्य के अंतिम शासक बृहद्रथ मौर्य तक कुल दस सम्राट हुए। अंतिम सम्राट बृहद्रथ मौर्य की उनके सेनापति पुष्यमित्र शुंग ने हत्या कर दी और “शुंग वंश” की स्थापना की।
पुष्यमित्र शुंग ब्राह्मण था। इस समाज ने इस दिन बहुत बड़ा उत्सव मनाया। उस साल यह अशोक विजयदशमी का ही दिन था। उन्होंने “अशोक” शब्द को हटा दिया और जश्न मनाया।
इस जश्न में मौर्य वंश के 10 सम्राटों के अलग-अलग पुतले न बनाकर एक ही पुतला बनाया और उसके 10 सर बना दिए और उसका दहन किया। 2500 साल के सम्राट अशोक के विरासत से जोड़ते हुए 14 अक्टूबर 1956 को अशोक विजयदशमी के दिन ही बाबासाहेब डॉ. आंबेडकर ने 5 लाख लोगों के साथ बौद्ध धम्म की दीक्षा ली थी। सभी मित्रों को”अशोक विजयदशमी” की बहुत-बहुत बधाई!

सम्राट अशोक के कलिंग युद्ध में विजयी होने के दसवें दिन मनाये जाने के कारण इसे अशोक विजयदशमी कहते हैं। इसी दिन सम्राट अशोक ने बौद्ध धम्म की दीक्षा ली थी।विजय दशमी बौद्धों का पवित्र त्यौहार है। ऐतिहासिक सत्यता है कि महाराजा अशोक कलिंग युद्ध के बाद हिंसा का मार्ग त्याग कर बुद्ध धम्म अपनाने की घोषणा कर दी थी।
बौद्ध बन जाने पर वह बौद्ध स्थलों की यात्राओ पर गए। भगवान बुद्ध के जीवन को चरितार्थ करने तथा अपने जीवन को कृतार्थ करने के निमित्त हजारो स्तुपो ,शिलालेखो ,धम्म स्तम्भो का निर्माण कराया। अशोक की इस धार्मिक परिवर्तनसे खुश होकर देश की जनता ने उन सभी स्मारकों को सजाया -सवारा तथा उस पर दीपोत्सव किया। यह आयोजनहर्षोलास के साथ १० दिनों तक चलता रहा, दसवे दिन महाराजा ने राजपरिवार के साथ पूज्य भंते मोग्गिलिपुत्त तिष्य से धम्म दीक्षा ग्रहण किया

1. India is down down behind Bangladesh in per capita GDP, the same India that was once called the third largest growing economy and the same Bangladesh that was 30% below India in 2009
2. India is down down behind Bangladesh, Pakisthan and Srilanka in Hunger Index, the same India that was ahead of all three countries just 10 years back
3. Donald Trump is calling India a filthy filthy nation and India is accepting that silently with bowed heads, just months after same India spent 130 Cr for Namaste Trump.
India does not need religious bigots. It needs real patriotic people who will make it an economic super power. But then, who cares about the country these days any way.
