  • The Android TV platform is an adaptation of the Android OS for set-top boxes and as integrated software on smart TV hardware. Its home screen uses a vertically-scrolling, row-based interface, including a "content discovery" area populated by suggested content, followed by "Watch Now" rows that surface media content from installed apps.
  • Fire OS is a mobile operating system based on the Android Open Source Project. It is developed by Amazon for their devices. Fire OS includes proprietary software, a customized user interface primarily centered on content consumption, and heavy ties to content available from Amazon's storefronts and services.
  • Tizen is a Linux-based mobile operating system backed by the Linux Foundation, developed and used primarily by Samsung Electronics. The project was originally conceived as an HTML5-based platform for mobile devices to succeed MeeGo. Samsung merged its previous Linux-based OS effort, Bada, into Tizen, and has since used it primarily on platforms such as wearable devices and smart TVs.
  • webOS, also known as LG webOS and previously known as Open webOS, HP webOS and Palm webOS, is a Linux kernel-based multitasking operating system for smart devices such as smart TVs that has also been used as a mobile operating system. Initially developed by Palm, Inc., HP made the platform open source, at which point it became Open webOS.

If you can afford, Apple tv.  Otherwise, Fire tv is your best option. Even on my smart tv’s I setup firetv 4k for better UI.

Recently, I purchased Apple tv and it blow my mind in terms of UI/multitasking, the app stays in background not like Android tv/Fire tv where it reloads after sometime and the smoothness while scrolling is top notch.

For peace of mind and "no-regret-later", only choice is Android TV...

I have used WebOS, Tizen and Android TV.

If you want best Apps, services (OTT) availability then Android OS.

If you want fluidity, fast startup, fast apps then either WebOS OR Tizen.

WebOS with Magic remote is great in terms of ergonomics.

Also LG, Samsung devices are superior in terms of screen sharing Vs Android tv.

Overall Sony's implementation combines best of both worlds.

I think any TV with Firestick is best in terms of load on the TV's motherboard since it will work as only a passive audio video device and all work done will be handled by Firestick. Use the default OS till the warranty period and switch to Firestick when the warranty is about to expire.

android tv/firestick is best for app support else tizen/webos is good enough has all OTT apps, tizen has samsung tv plus with free channels, if elderly people gonna use the tv its better to buy tizen/webos as its less complicated than android

I’ll go to Dubai again for 15 pro max around third week of Nov. I can get the Apple tv for you, tag me during that time if you want.

You can check the aed price on Amazon dubai, offline it’s 5-10% cheaper.

Meena bazaar, dreams city, seven wonders would be enough to visit but make sure to visit few shops and than decide which one is offering you at the best price.

Also, tell your friend if it’s first time to stay away from local thugs who will offer oil/crap to reduce weight and will take you to a corner and loot all your money, plenty of video’s available on YouTube.

Apple Arcade is useless for me, I tried many trials but didn’t like it much, the only game I play these days is COD Mobile on my iPad during weekends.

Good luck for your upcoming Apple TV.
