any alternative to green lable (bru) filter coffee

off late, the price has become 380/- per 500gms. I tried tata grand, cothas blends but did not like it.

We consume 2KG per month and from past 3yrs this green label price has gone up from 180 to 380.

On offers i used to buy between 240-260 plus 5% discount on FK, but now it has become too much.

Even local fresh blends are not less than 400 if we ask for 60-40 and 80-20 is blend is 20 more and quality not upto mark.

As a dimer, i would like to know if anyone has any alternative to this.

The brands i tried tested Deccan, tata grand, cothas and some other local available in d-mart. They are not good may be due to QC or they use inferior beans.

Once you like BRU its hard to switch to any other coffee. At best we can switch to nescafe

Try Quality Filter coffee, they supply filter coffee to many Udipi style restaurants within Mumbai Metropolitan Region. I usually order their No.1 Blend which is a medium dark roast in 80:20

Special Peaberry from Leo Coffee is good if you are looking for filter coffee but guess it's confined to TN or Chennai only, you can check via their contact us page.

Yeah prices have increased exponentially as 2019 and earlier 500gms was below 200Rs and after Covid every year it kept rising as I remember it was 290 in 2021 then 320 mid 2023 then 350 in late 2023 and now 510 😌

Its 510 for 500gm, Green label 60:40 is 300 on fk with discount. I get my 2kg with 1kg of leo.

Try bayars coffee. You get 2 options, 80% n 60% coffee.  60% one is closer to Green label.

Narasu is a good brand. They ship directly from factory if I am not mistaken. We use them for instant coffee which turns out to be cheaper than store even after factoring shipping cost. You can try them for filter coffee.

Coffee prices have really exploded in the last couple of years. Even local shop that used to sell 250 gms for 100 is now selling for 160.

I used to buy Leo Coffee regularly on FK but they dont have any good offers these days.

Narasu is good but I've never found any offers.

Right now using Mokkafarms 80:20 blend and I like it. They have offers on Amazon from time to time.

Thanks I tried this Tarun when they were offering buy1 get1 for 200.

The problem with them is their consistency. Their quality is not good n straight consequent months and I left it.

I agree to the point that having coffe early morning is a very satisfactory experience. We make decoction over night.

you are making coffee decotion for a family of 4 i think. so cost and taste also matters. In my home I only drink decotion coffee. My wife drinks tea. I can under stand making over night as you need lot of  decotion early morning. I pour hot water over  over 40% powder filled filter  and take the dog for a walk . In 30 minutes one round is ready. I make my coffee and pour another round hot water for 2nd round. This decotion lasts me for 2 days. I do understand consistency is a problem in most brands  malgudi was slightly better than tata grand. I used to make originally with Bru Green filter coffee powder only ...Since I like vanilla flavour also , if the batch coffee is not good , I add a drop of vanilla essence in the filter over coffee powder. vanilla favoured decotion do works.. I have the liberty as I am making for one person . Not in your case.

I am surprised you guessed what we are making realy. You guessed right. In the morning we take out overnight decoction to a tumble and again pour hot water in the morning for 2nd ronund. The 2nd decoction wil be little light, but ok for 2nd round.
