I have asus laptop (i5 7th gen, 12 gig ram and 1 tb hdd).

Whenever i start laptop, it starts lagging nd hanging, its performance is very poor, after checking i found it is consuming disk usage 100%.
I google and did some troubleshooting myself, removed skype, chrome and even anti virus, kill some task permanently, and even flashed windows several times but nothing worked.
Current version win 10 pro.

Is there any pro dimer who can help me out.

Is my hdd faulty.

Ps – i realised this after my warrenty gets over as i rarely use my laptop.

images – https://ibb.co/T...5w

so far i have followed below things as suggested by google and wiki

Disable SuperFetch service.
Removed chromeand skype.
Update device drivers.
Perform a diskcheck.
Reset Virtual Memory.
Disable Antivirus Software.

Any utility or software to do sector wise scanning?

You can use WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostic Tool https://support.wdc.com/downloads.as...=3 or Sea Tools probably as well. They work with drives from other manufacturers as well.
For empty 4TB ext. drives full scan takes around 10-12 hrs. Much longer if the drive is near full. The WD tool resumes scan from where it had been interrutped for ex. in case of the system entering Sleep.

Asus i5 7th gen 8gb ram 120hz 1tb hdd, same issues for me just after one month of buying laptop,SSD of 480gb ₹4500/- something fixed it

I had similar issue with my laptop so I installed additional 4GB RAM as I thought it is RAM issue but no real difference then I replaced my HDD with SSD and voila, my laptop was working like a rocket, then I removed that extra RAM which I installed just to check if there is any real performance issue but it only drops 5% I guess. In short, Once you replace your HDD with SSD you will see real performance of your laptop.

Maybe try increasing virtual memory. 🙂🙂🙂

Virtual memory is nothing but disk space used as substitute for ram shortage & in this case it will be hdd which is very slow. If it was ssd then this suggestion would have provided some benefit because of much higher speeds of ssd over hdd(though both of them have speeds less than ram speeds).

The problem you mentioned is actually happening to many acquaintances, relatives and others I know. Some specific brands are giving a lot of troubles from their own side (by building obsolescence to it for business).
Asus, dell and samsung. Samsung is even more worse with its newer phones as after sometime the motherboard gets destroyed and there is no option to recover except buying a new phone.

Same issue was faced by me
After reading ur first line consuming disk usage 100%

The solution is buy 240 /480gb ssd
Problem solved.
😀
Ps – dont go for hdd now ..keep it as secondary drive for data storage

Yes & you are right, it only comes into action if ram usage goes above 65-70%.

You can’t build “obsolescence” into a freshly installed windows, such “obsolescence” if any will at max be in hardware or pre-installed software/windows(which becomes irrelevant when fresh installing windows after formatting the disk).

Environmental scientists are screaming to STOP overindulging and reduce electronic consumption/crap as it contains some of the most toxic pollution to the environment.
But these giants are doing their best to break ethics and laws.
Need to heavily fined and shamed like Volkswagen went through.

It’s build in the system. I’m not an engineer but these problems and even a friend and some acquaintance of uncle’s revealed this that it’s done by company.
Older phones, laptops still go on working well after a stint in service centers and sometimes new parts but nowadays the problem persist or gets killed completely for no fault from the user.

If you are talking about laptop keyboards/motherboards failing within 2-3 years then it is universal phenomenon courtesy of significantly increased influence of Chinese manufacturing cost cutting since 2013-14. My friends still have laptops from asus & dell bought in 2010/11 & still working fine with expected issues like some usb ports not working etc & same is the case with TVs with LG/samsung TVs bought in 201/11 lasting for more than 6-7 years while nowadays I have seen even 1 lakh+ costing LG/samsung TVs fail within 2-3 years.

Kingston A400 or Crucial BX500 whichever you can find cheaper though I prefer A400 over BX500 by a bit.

Samsung Evo if you want best but their price is on the higher side. Otherwise if you wanna save some money then Crucial, WD, Kingston, Toshiba, Adata…pick whatevers cheaper.

Just keep in mind that If your laptop has NVMe slot then do not go for SATA SSDs otherwise you’ll either have to get rid of your current HDD or your DVD drive to make space for the SSD.

Refer to your laptop’s manual or their webpage. Look for storage/expansion or similar options.
