Hi All,

I am suffering from severe ADHD since 2019 and taking medications for it but seem not much effect yet, recently visited a health care person and he informed that due to me being careless about ADHD, I am slowly developing OCD within me. I didn't paid much attention back then cause the course they were suggesting to get enrolled was damn expensive and I thought it might be not worth paying that much amount for mere small issue but now feeling like it's been increasing or maybe it's just that health care person playing with my mind to make me enroll for the course.

I took their consulting service felt good and was quite affordable xD

Was just wondering If someone going through same thing here on DD too

P. S : If someone finds this thread irrelevant or useless, please feel free to ignore it or If you want to more satisfy your mind & heart & just ignoring don't work for you. you can vote down and move on. Thanks.

Course is an offline one in the nearby local private mental health center and asking 18K for 4 months, I attended only consulting there for Rs 600 just to check what exactly it is.

OCD I heard but not ADHD

I will suggest u take the course if u can afford, a distant relative she ignored and now in some hospital with OCD for water..kinda she will empty whole tank many times a day washing hands body utensils...then/now kept in a place with just bucket of water no running taps. I do not have more details than mentioned here

Wish u fast recovery!

For what I have learned after my recent visit to that person, it is like a pattern a person follows again and again. It is a pattern of fear and thoughts that causes or leads us to take action. If ABC fear kicks in, then an OCD person follows XYZ patterns that his own mind has created for him, and if it doesn't, then that fear boosts like a rocket.

I had observed such things happening within but never paid much attention because, like every other OCD person, I used to follow a XYZ pattern to get temporary relief for myself.

During my recent visit, they gave us a diary with many sections, similar to a self-help diary. If fear (obsession) kicks in for ABC, we need to write down the trigger (what happened around that time when that fear kicked in), and finally, "If fear kicks in for ABC, what is the repetitive action (compulsion) you do to get out of that fear?" Let's say I write XYZ.This allows us to track which fears are triggering, when they usually trigger, and what compensatory behaviors, i.e., compulsion, we are engaging in to break free from the obsession.

I have recently discovered OCD within me with the help of that doctor. I don't know much about it yet, since it's just been a week. But, whatever that doctor said, I agreed with him because I have been observing this repetitive behaviour for many years within me, even before losing my job in the pandemic.

Earlier I used to think I have depression but I was wrong.

It's ADHD.

And I feel you brother.

It feels like hell.

The exact same thing happened to me. This all started back in the year 2019, (maybe it was there before that as well since they say mostly it comes from childhood, but maybe I wasn't very educated about it before). Later that year, the pandemic occurred, and I lost my job; I mistook it for depression and assumed that it would go away once I regained my job.I got the job, and now it will be gone in a few weeks once I spend some time in the environment, but nothing changed, everything was temporary. Once I disconnected from the job environment and came back home, all this stuff used to travel with me. I feel like crying even while typing these, because it is very painful stuff, Some people think it's all maan ka behm, but it's not like mental diseases exist.

I'd like to share a story with all of you. When I was in school and used to go to private coaching there, I had a good physics professor who used to tell us a story about a man who lived in a foreign country and was able to see a lot of humans around him, The people he used to see were either alive or had lived on this planet before, but he didn't know how to differentiate who was real and who was an illusion, so he had three people with him all the time. If all three say yes, then only he used to talk with that person.

I shared this incident. Yes, mental diseases exist, but it's not always maan ka beham.

I'm glad to hear that you managed to come out of this, brother. Well played! and congrats.

Bro, If you don't mind, would you please let me know what medicines followed? It was my first visit to the doctor with regards to the OCD

https://www.desidime.com/discussions/any-one-here-suffering-from-ocd-or-adhd?page=1#post_9010180

They only told me this much, and they have asked me to write down the majority of the fears, triggers, and compulsive behaviours I discovered within a week. I might visit them again next week to share everything I have noted with them.

Sorry brother. I can't disclose the medicines that were prescribed by my doctor as those were falling under NDPS Act and required stamp of the issuer (pharmacist) that xx number of pills have been issued against this prescription.

That being very sensitive information, I can't share the name.

I wish you all the best for the recovery. Just follow up with the doctor regularly. Don't miss out on medicines (forgetting once/twice is okay). But do not avoid taking medicines. Regular follow up with doctor is important.

Remember, money is important too. But, if you can be more stable with the treatment, you can earn much more money than what you're spending on treatment.

So, get treated, earn more money.

Not everything can be or should be shared publicly not to mention there is no mental health professional(psychiatrist/psychologist) here anyway to give a well informed opinion.

My cousin stood first while in school and he even topped his MBA class as well.
But sadly he could not control his intrusive thoughts 😔

All these gadgets, internet & social media distractions adds up to the cause of ADHD and OCD . Keep it to a minimum, else it becomes more invasive.

Try doing Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) with these books https://www.amazon.com/Best-Sellers-Books-Cogni... first , if not helpful try reaching to a CBT therapist at your location/area.

A combination of daily journaling, Meditation ( Vipassana or any other forms) & exercising( yoga) with healthy food reduces the symptoms a lot. Wishing a healthy recovery ahead!!

I know one case in neighbourhood where person diagonsed with ocd was dead.
He suddenly started thinking that he has some breathing problems.
He used to continuously focus on his breathing all the time.
(May be due to fear of death/due to covid, I don't know how ocd person thinks, I am not sure)
He died few months after ocd diagnosis. but his family claimed that it was due to covid.

It takes immense courage to post such issues on a open forum. Appreciate that. Now i relate to all your previous threads. I've one friend of mine he was my classmate in my engg college who was suffering with OCD (i barely have any idea about ADHD) so i understand how things pan out with you on daily basis.

I'd just recommend just stick to your basis, meditate regularly, meet and talk with those people whom you respect like your parents etc and face the situation.

All the best. #ApkaApnaJJ smile

The unstoppable ritual is what they follow else they feel uncomfortable, anxious and frustrated.

Examples include but not limited to,

Wash hands properly like 10-15 minutes

Bathing for like 1-3 hours

Cleaning feet with water for long time

Checking if they have locked main door, suitcases tens of time.

Repeating their last action for no reason else they feel frustrated 😔

OK,

Just an update.

I'm just fed up with my depression and ADHD.

I stayed nearly 2 months without meds but as it's a vital time for me and can't waste a single day feeling down soooo, starting the meds again.

Doc recommended to start fluoxetine at 40 mg and reduced bupropion extended release to 150 mg stating it would not  cause stomach problems anymore.

And one more thing , don't make mistake like me , don't discontinue medicine just because you feel like discontinuing it.

Doc said it will take another good 3-4 weeks to kick in.(be effective)

People with OCD/ADHD,
do you share your depression/thoughts with your family/closed ones on regular basis?
are they aware of your condition?
or you just interact with your doctors directly?
