Hi all

I’d soon be going on my first international trip to Malaysia and would like some tips/hacks on how to make the most out of it.

Any advices/suggestions are appreciated. Its a short trip so any itinerary or specific places you would like to suggest would also be helpful.

Thanks in advance!

Exchange with US dollar here itself to avoid uncessary charges. Also keep softcopies of all documents incase things go south.

Don't forgot to fill Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) three (3) days before the arrival date.

Keep cash with you.

Must visit place for shopping is Petaling Street (Bargain as much as possible).

Just came back from Malaysia trip last week.

Places to visit in Kuala Lumpur

- Petronas twin tower (if you want to go up, book tickets in 1 week advance, you'll get cheaper price on official website rather than Klook)

- KLCC Park (behind twin tower, visit at night)

- KL tower (book tickets from Klook for skydeck & skybox, can skip observation deck)

- Aquaria KLCC (good place to visit if you have kids with you)

- Merdeka square

- Bukit Bintang for nightlife

- Plaza Low Yat for electronics shopping

- Central market for normal shopping, Petaling Street for cheaper shopping (both markets are nearby)

Places nearby Kuala Lumpur (one day tour)

- Batu Caves and Genting Highlands (recommended)

- Melaka (we skipped this)

We also visited Langkawi island where we spent 2 days.

Few suggestions

- Tourist places are not well connected by public transport. You can use grab app for taxi, prices are very affordable if you are travelling in group. Save card details in grab app to avoid hassle of cash payment.

- You can carry USD from India and convert into RM there. Many places accept card payment, so use cards with zero or low forex charges.

You may withdraw cash from local ATM (IDFC wow cc charges 234 per withdrawal, no other fees were charged by local Maybank ATM).

- Weather is hot and it can rain anytime but it mostly lasts only for short period.

- Submit MDAC form online 1 day before your trip.

I suppose you know which cards to carry , you can share or DM what you have currently, and can guide how to use them for your trip.
