I want to purchase gold worth some amount (example: 49000) with my hdfc millenia credit card in a offical retail jewellery outlet. my credit limit is 1 lakh.

I wil repay entire amount immediately within statement due date. this is not an EMI

Are there any additional transaction charges/finance charges/hidden charges/other charges

do i need to pay anything extra amount other than 49000 (as said taken as example)

“wish to inform that you can use your credit card to purchase gold jewelry upto the limit available on your credit card without any additional charges. However the same cannot be converted to EMI”

As far as i know there are no additional charges from your credit cards issuer but the jewellery outlet may charge you card processing fees which can vary from 1% to 2% also you can try to negotiate with them that if they charge anything extra than you will not purchase anything.

Also there may be a slight chance that they will not charge anything extra.

Some jewellery stores are charging 1% ~ 3% payment gateway fees for purchase of gold coins & bars using CC

pay by UPI otherwise ready to pay for premium of 2-4% above your buy value. Choice is yours.

Ask beforehand to the shop cashier..so u don't end up paying premium.. Or If the 49k jewelry consists of multiple items.. just buy the minimum value jewelry first and wait for the amount to reflect in your cc unbilled amount..if it's Same as bill amount u may proceed with the rest of the purchase..
