Does anyone know of recent crackdown on Mobile Signal Booster products ?
I came to know they can affect service quality for others.
How exactly is it possible unless it uses huge antennas or signal blocking ??

You mean like a DDoS attack ? 
But that’d require many users.
Only security concern I can think of is extended repeaters and signal boosters can give false user geolocation which can be used by terrorists.
I am working in this deptt only ..

They use small antenna with a power to interfere with a particular tower and creating trouble to all the users using that tower
