Both have different pros and cons.
Mobile network is not good at my home so I have no options to have Fiber connection.. irrespective of which one is cheaper / costlier

Are you more interested in a Fibre connection after Mobile plan price hike?

Now that the Telecom plan prices have been hiked by approx 20% and some plans by Vi with 4 GB / day plan discontinued, do you feel a Fibre optic net connection seems more economical/ makes sense now for your internet consumption needs?
I was also thinking about it 😄

Hope your phone has WiFi calling feature to maximize the benefits

Yes of course they have different pros and cons. But the fact is most of us Indians use our phones as our computer/ laptop, for many it’s only online access device. And the mobile plan is a type of substitute for a broadband or fibre.
So atleast in urban and semi-urban areas Fibre is a great option for our internet consumption especially in the New normal with Work from Home and Study from Home needs.
And if you need a low latency connection option for gaming or work then there’s no alternative.
Because of 4GB / day and night unlimited plan I was little hesitant to get a Fibre… but now I feel it makes lots of sense for me get one. I’m thinking of getting Airtel Fibre.

Let see after a year bud I have qued so many plans in jio 🤣🤣
Here in my area jio network is good so I might go with jio fiber
main problem is if we go for fibre connection, then mobile data gets waste, and if we use mobile data then whats the use of getting fiber connection?
Any wired broadband from a good ISP is not even comparable with any 3G/4G stuff. Yet Indian public keep comparing the two. Broadband is for those who seek quality internet, how internet is meant to be really. Mobile data is for those who prefer to be sought by social media part of internet.
Please stop comparing the two once and for all

1) GB limit: 3000+ GB
2) Very low ping. Great for online gaming and Video Conference.
3) Absolutely necessary for those who upload lots data online. Whether it’s YouTube content upload or File backup or CC TV footage backup.
3) watching hours of 4k content anytime on TV
4) If your phone has WiFi calling feature and your Telecom network ( Jio, Airtel, Vi) reception not good you can connect to a good WiFi connection to make calls. Call data packets which would be routed through internet connection to Telecom packet switched network.
Fibre Connection seems like a better option. BSNL fibre has low cost plans and more GB

Inka agla kadam broadband aur fiber hi hoga, feel bhai…
Both Jio Fiber and Airtel Xstream Fiber show coming soon when I place a request.
Is there any way to get that faster? I have been trying to get both for quite some time now.
Please share how to get that connection.

I know comparing them would be like comparing Apples apple🍎 and 🍊 oranges … But essentially both are common fruit.
I disagree with your argument that broadband/ fiber is “what’s internet meant to be”
It everything depends on individual usage scenario.
And quality differences between mobile data and broadband/Fibre is narrowing with time and improvements in technology.
Biggest advantage of mobile data is …. well it’s mobility. And Speed and low latency is advantage of Wired connection.
A e-bikes is not comparable to a motor bike but if petrol prices become too high and e-bikes get heavily subsided lots of people would switch to e-bikes. That’s basic market dynamics.
By E-bikes I meant electric bicycles

Exactly. Both are nowhere close

Then go with 2 gb per month plan on mobile. Sufficient for occasional light use
avgn wrote:Then go with 2 gb per month plan on mobile. Sufficient for occasional light use
Yes, but most of time, I am out from home and reach by 7-8 pm. So most of my internet use i do from mobile only and around 700-800 mb is left unused daily that gets utilise by connecting my internet to my smart tv.

Please don’t give them ideas.
Anyway I also feel that after mobile services they’ll slowly but certainly will come after broadband users.
Currently everyone in my house is using ₹329 or similar plans and are completely dependent on fiber for all data needs. This and no DTH recharge easily compensates for monthly fiber recharge.

Then we better find out if We can
Que Fibre plans too. L
Fiber connection = HIT
Mobile Data = FLOP
When it comes to choice / option.
When it comes to portable net connection , then we have to stick with mobile data / 4G etc .

Good job, Over simplified in a nutshell.
for chewing up massive amount of data no way is mobile internet good enough. fiber is the only way. my monthly usage alone(excluding family) is in the ballpark of 750gb-1tb. also without fiber my brother can’t continue his work from home coz he downloads databases worth 40-50gb daily. btw his firm pays for the monthly fiber bill since that is a work expense so that is cool too. also calls are free.
for downloading random docs and downloading ticket on a train or ordering a meal mobile data is fine but for massive consumption it is not. however i do know people in good cities watching online lectures in 480p on 4g.
Sunasuna wrote:main problem is if we go for fibre connection, then mobile data gets waste, and if we use mobile data then whats the use of getting fiber connection?
dude your logic is absurd. people with fiber don’t count GBs every couple of hours on their network provider’s app. either find a plan that has no data or just be happy that your mobile data is a nice bonus to have. your mobile plan’s 1.5gb or 2gb per day is loose change in front 3.3TB data that if i want i can use in 1 day. i am leaving ping, speeds, latency and stuff coz you really don’t even need to know else you won’t have made the comparison.

Bro, fiber connection is good for you not for me as i am not staying at home all day and night as per my previous comment i reach home by 6-8 PM depends on my travelling time, i never advice any one to stop using fiber connection. For me 1.5 gb/day is more then enough, and dont want to spend more money unnecessary on fiber connection which may provide More then 1TB internet as this much internet is not useful for me.
So my logic is not absurd as per my internet usage.
After this price hike going for fiber connection or not is our personal choice. You are free to go for fiber connection as you internet consumption is too high. For me fiber connection just a waste as my internet usage is too low.

Do you have watch TV?
TuckingFypo wrote:Do you have watch TV?
I have smart tv, and yes after utilising data on mobile i till left wih 600-800 mb everyday which get consumed easily by smart tv. And my family members have unlimited data plan which they hardly use 500-600 mb everydays. So most of there data gets wasted. So This data can be also utilise if required.

So you watch content on your TV via mobile data? No dth….etc?
Always been on wired internet connection since dialup days. I hardly use mobile data. Need plans with calling and sms only. But with no choice left I have been recharging with the long term UL calls with that 24GB for 365 days plan.
The question should be : Are you more interested in a Fibre connection after 20 percent price hike for both the Mobile plan and Fibre connection ?
Now THEY have raised price for mobile connection next up it’s fibre … one point in future very soon even fiber connection will not seem profitable to THEM and in the name of ARPU they are going to do it ie hike the price as always.
TuckingFypo wrote:So you watch content on your TV via mobile data? No dth….etc?
No. I dont get time of watching such things.
