How often do we change our mobile

* Edit: edited to reflect number of years of usage than usage time in a day. *

just a thought to know how long dimers use a mobile with average specs.

i see so many companies releasing models left and right and not sure who are the consumers they target.

Earlier i used to tempt fir offers and change mobiles with in a year, only to realize there is little or no improvement in new models.

earlier for non touch phones, people generally use them for atleat 5years and they cost avg. 2000.

Are smart phones meant to mint money and they became indispensable?

Not sure your comments please.

5-6 hours usage daily, 3 – 4 years max

Problem is that even though people want it to use many years, they can’t because company after 2 3 years make phone unusable by giving broken updates.

Bhai he is asking how many years you use i.e. life of mobile or average mobile change rate, not how many hours in a day stuck_out_tongue
Everyone is following the suit of first responder, who responded in hours.

Well it depends. If you use your phone as a tool and don’t need the latest and greatest, then you can use your phone for 3-4 years. By that time, the phone would have slowed down and the battery life would be pretty average to bad. But if you are someone who is tech savvy, a tech enthusiast, who likes to own the latest tech, then you can think about upgrading every two years or so. Also depends on the phone you use, how you use it and what you use it for. If you own a premium midranger or a flagship, then you can use it a bit longer. Similarly if you use your phone for long time a day, charge it multiple times a day, then the battery will wear down faster, thus you might have to upgrade earlier. If you use your phone as a computer replacement, then you might need to upgrade sooner than someone who just uses it to text, call, surf Instagram and watch YouTube videos or Netflix.

Smartphones, in my opinion, are a very good investment. They have replaced so many things we used to buy. One of the biggest advantages of having a good phone is the great camera that comes with it. If you buy a premium midrange or a flagship, you get camera performance that is more than good enough for almost everyone, except maybe photography enthusiasts or professional photographers. Many youtubers use IPhone camera to shoot their videos. So, if you are someone who travels a lot, like taking a lot of photos and want your photos to look the best, then a very good smartphone is a good investment. But of course, the biggest thing is, how much expendable income you have.

Smartphones with flagship grade SoCs in particular Qualcomm 8xx series can be easily used for 5-6 years if running AOSP ROMs with a change of battery. There’s no slowdown after some time which is a common complaint associated with devices running heavily skinned ROMs. Apple devices from the past few years of course can be used for even longer.

15 days back i exchanged my xiomi note 4 and took real me 8. Thats almost 5years old. No problems whatsoever except camera, which is not good.

i think it will last another 3 years. Used it for calls and internet browsing. Battery lasts for 5-6hrs. Solid phone. Sleek phone.

normally use mobile 2-3 years but when ever there is a good exchange offer or loot deal i consider the deal if it is worth

the earlier statement was just sarcastic – till one is alive mobile will be used as its become a necessity

Kuch logon ka to ulta hota hai, bhai. Wo kehte hain na – अधजल गगरी छलकत जाए. Jeb mein thode paise ho to bhi bahut uchhalte hain.

BTW, I too have sort of started differentiating between my need and want. Hence, no device change for me, unless the need to. Current phone Samsung Galaxy J7 Max since August’17, and still going great. It’ll still stay as my Primary Phone until full-fledged 5G Network is launched in Pan-India.

My last phone was Nokia E72, which was used for 7 long years until it was stolen… pensive
