My mi tv 55" has stopped working now ( not turning on with remote and button) after escalating complaint with cc, the service guy said we have to replace motherboard, which costs around Rs 11000, after this i searched twitter for motherboard problem withi and there were thousands like me who were facing the same problem.
Who will spend 11k for motherboard and no guarantee of that new motherboard too.
My sony tv 32" which i purchased 8 years back is still working fine as it was 8 years ago.
But this crap mi tv stopped after just 3 years.
Never ever go for these companies mi, realme etc.
Go for sony, samsung atleast they run for long term

P.s- just 2 weeks on DD back i was praising my tv and now this grin

TVs have a longer life span stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye.
I have 10-12 year old samsung 32" LED HD tv at home which runs on dth, still works just as fine.
Sirf dhool ghus gya hai peeche se and remote change sweat_smile.

Mi gives lots of features at low prices, so obviously there will be interior internals.

Not the new 1s .

CRTV used to run decades. I recently sold my 20 year old CROWN TV
Plasma TV easy 10+ years
Old Samsung LCDs easy 10 years

New 4K TVs and all, any thing more than 3-4 years are bonus.

3 years is pretty long! I had issues of screen getting black spots after 1 year on VU. I had extra warranty and survived the blow a bit, got refund after depreciation. My friend’s screen had spots within an year and MI replaced it and then it again had issues, so it replaced again. But he also got the extra warranty as well.

Recently I bought a cheap Sansui because it was cheap for 4K 55 inch, but I got the warranty as I know it won’t last for long.

Go for sony, samsung atleast they run for long term

wrong, i know people having issues with them as wel.. Extra warranty for 3-4 years is the only saving grace nowadays.

It’s not wrong, but debatable bro.
My roommate has 1st gen mi android tv. It still works fine(was switched off for 1 year in during covid sweat_smile)
Colleague has 4year old sony bravia android tv 55". He also hasn’t faced any issues yet.
I guess it depends on luck,

You can buy 3 MI tvs in the cost of 1 samsung/sony, same goes for mobiles. Better to use it for 3-4 years and replace with a new tv with advanced features/technology instead of sticking with the same (expensive) one for 8-10 years.

This is also a very good approach.
Buying high end samsung/sony tv doesn’t warrants that it won’t fail.
You’ll end up as a huge expensive worthless glass if high end sony/samsung fails.

Now-a-days Main aim of all electronics companies is to manufacture a product which will surely fail after 3-5 years usage

they want you to change mobile every 2-3years and when such manufacturers make TV and other smart electronics they make it with similar mentality. it’s a different story for Sony and Samsung they are professionals.

i remember having Sony tvs not going bad for 20+ years.

That’s the reason I don’t any electronic item made by China-based companies (those whose origin is China) – because they have shitty attitude towards build quality & customer care.

I prefer to pay more for Korean or Taiwanese or Japanese companies and have peace of mind.

I bought Realme TV with 3 years warranty. It stopped working within 9 months.
They replaced my TV after 3 months. There are many users who are complaining on twitter that their TV has not been replaced since last 7 months. Realme has a worst customer service. So avoid buying Realme TV.

I have a background in electronics and let me tell you that motherboards in modern appliances are the most expensive part contributing to at least 30% of it’s price. It’s literally like a foundation of a structure upon which everything is built. Be it inverter ac’s or laptops, problems in motherboard will put a dent in your wallet.

It’s expensive to repair because it’s treated as a trade secret by manufacturers so it depends upon enthusiasts and 3rd party engineers to decipher and troubleshoot any issues.

You maybe have a background in electronics but I think you don’t know how to reduce the product price. grinning

Simple answer is – “Mass Production”.

Mass Production reduce the price of any Consumer Goods including satellites, rocket engines. smile

Mass production enabled manufacturers to produce goods at a faster pace, distribute those goods more widely, and therefore increase availability and enable more sales.

Having more products available for sale on a wider basis, versus products made one-by-one for a specific customer, enabled manufacturers to ultimately cut costs.

With the impact of economies of scale—cost benefits companies enjoy when production becomes more efficient—manufacturers were able to mass-produce products, cut costs, and still make a profit.

Samsung paheli baat toh har chiz khud banata hain and 2nd thing, har product ka mass production karta ha. Khud bhi use karta ha and dusro ko bhi sell karta ha. Ho sakta ha Mi Tv k bohot se motherboard samsung banata ho. Iphone me toh adhe se jada chiz toh Samsung or other companies he banata ha. Abhi ja kar Apple kuch saalo se khud k processor bana na start kiya but usme bhi ARM k architecture hote ha.

Jis din Samsung k woh ek koi phone explode kar raha tha kuch saal pahele, usdin Samsung k stock price aur uppar ja raha tha, kyunki usdin Samsung ne kisi aur ek company k sath koi deal sign kiya tha. smile

Samsung is a grandfather aur yeh sab MI, Realme wagera bacha ha abhi. smile

Same SpaceX vs ISRO ka bhi ha. Ek ISRO ka launch kya failure ho gaya, ab tak next launch k liye rocket nahi taiyar kar paya, jab ki govt backend ha, ISRO k pas paiso ki kami tak nahi hain. SpaceX k har kuch weeks ek na ek rocket blast hote raheta ha Starship rocket k trial me. SpaceX ko koi fark nahi parta ha isse. Reason is simple SpaceX mass production karta ha apne rocket engine ka aur har chiz khud banata ha.
