Axis Bank Debit Card Downgrade Possible?

I can see that if we open an Axis Bank ASAP account online, then the starting account variant is “DIGITAL EASY ACCESS SAVINGS ACCOUNT”
This account has an annual debit card fees of ₹500 + GST (the debit card variant is called E-Debit Card)
My doubt is than can we later downgrade this debit card variant (E-Debit Card) to any other lower variant (Secure+ Debit Card having AMC ₹300 +GST) or anything else like Visa Classic?
Also the 1% cashback on all spends (running currently) is applicable on all transactions like wallet payments or cc loads?

What was their response regarding the same?
They refused to downgrade, instead offered the one with higher amc . Another option was upgrading to higher variant account, I think prime savings account. Even then the DC wasn’t free, had fee for it. Then I asked rupay variant DC as it has lowest amc which they refused saying that it comes with salary account kit. I blocked the card permanently. Don’t have axis bank DC anymore.
Yes I ca personally confirm this for HDFC.
There is no restriction in HDFC of any time. You can go with ₹20 Rupay Platinum card as well as ₹750 Platinum Debit Card.
They are fully flexible in terms of this 
You can’t do anything with AXIS bank, they are chor, will try in anyway to squeeze money from your pocket. I visited branch and asked for RuPay card, they outward refused. Telling me lowest variant for my account is 500+gst dc, they even refused to give me 300+gst dc. However hdfc is very flexible bank.
I would suggest you do NOT open account with AXIS, better go for ICICI or any other private bank, there are many charges in the name of consolidated charges with AXIS bank. When I visited branch to close my account two other people also submitted account closure form.
Close the debit & use UPI or net banking for online transactions. I did same, I had hdfc debit card having 599Rs annual fee. I don’t use debit cards for transactions. If you need cash transfer fund to your other bank account & withdraw.
In my experience it isn’t possible.
