Just need the latest info regarding this. I must have call recording and without root my phone (pixel) won't have it. Previously I rooted and even after doing all the trickeries bank and other wallet apps didn't work. What's the story now? If steps below are followed would they work? Pls let me know.

Banking apps work just fine with a few exceptions perhaps. After an update occasionally some app or the other might be problematic for a while but most can be brought to heel. Use Magisk Delta instead. MagiskHide is more powerful than Shamiko. No need to enable Zygisk which is harder to hide. Don't need Universal Safetynet Fix as MD handles some stuff on it's own. Just enable MagiskHide for Play Store and Play Services ( com.google.android.gms, com.google.android.gms.unstable and most importantly com.google.android.gms:snet ). Google Pay, Paytm and Payzapp seem to check for the SafetyNet status whereas other apps work just fine even if it doesn't pass. Zygisk is necessary for LSPosed modules to hide Developer Options status so maybe one needs to use Riru variant of LSPosed instead.

Okay I'll try with magisk delta with magisk hide. Unrooted like a year ago after all the root related fiasco came about so might run into problems and if i do I'll tag you. I have disabled dev options to make icici work, and I'm not going anywhere near that Xposed thing as it makes the device lag.

I have used LSPosed sparingly but I haven't noticed any lag. Even in a mid-ranger launched 7+ years ago. There's a TG group created recently, frequented by dimers who use rooted devices...

P.S. I was using official Magisk plus Shamiko all this time but in the last month finally switched to MD after failing to get new Payzapp to work.

So Magisk Delta + Magiskhide Makes everything work?

Even Paytm & iMobile?

If yes, how to switch to the same from Magisk 26.1 + Shamiko?

PS - Please dm the telegram group address

Yes. Paytm and iMobile are easy to tame.

Which banking apps you want to hide , most of them works even without magisk delta ( magisk + shamiko ) is enough.

Bob and imobile both works fine with shamiko, payzapp can be notorious and might require some hit and trial

I haven't still unlocked the bootloader in my current daily driver but call recording was necessary. So I tried Cube ACR as recommended by   @saucap IIRC and happily it works reliably even under MIUI. So there should be no issues in Pixels. Accessibility permission is necessary though.

Just tried the app, works fine. Don't think it records from phone line but from microphone only thus the inferior quality compared to root based apps, but still workable I suppose.

I rooted my phone with Delta right after your post and have been using my go to recorder for about couple of weeks now. Bank apps work fine, for now. I'm not so sure whether magisk delta doesn't hindrance device performance though. I'm critically sensitive to dropped frames. Not certain though.

Magisk/Magisk Delta should have no effect at all day-to-day device performance. You can keep an eye on CPU usage using FKM(paid) or CPU Float etc. Sometimes the device doesn't ramp up the CPU cores fast enough. This can be tweaked with root. Surprisingly at times the GPU is the culprit. Minimum clocks and/or GPU Boost have to be adjusted accordingly. FKM offers the fantastic Processes tab which has helped to detect several rogue (not malware) apps over the years. Google processes are regular offenders. Tako Stats displays the frame rate spit out by the GPU itself which helps establish whether it can keep up with the chosen display refresh rate or not besides the ability to display the process using the most CPU at any time in the overlay. I find it hard to put up with dropped frames as well.

P.S. The free version of Cube ACR records only in AMR-WB with it's abysmal bitrates. AAC is limited to the paid version.

Installed both apps, Tako and FKM. Tako is good for what it offers but it's difficult to keep an eye on the fps gauge and determine whether 60 fps is sustainably maintained. Is there any benchmark app which i can use, you know to measure differences bw rooted and non rooted, should there be any? That would be easier.

I'm glad to know that others are there who care about dropped frames. Because the vast majority are completely oblivious about it. I'm so much bothered by it that back in Samsung touch wiz days and even with that Motorola X in its time I would run the devices on Performance governor to rule out or minimise possibilities of dropped frames.

I don't think the usual benchmarking apps like Geekbench, PC Mark for Android or Antutu (should have been retired years ago) would be of much help as the difference should be minimal. In any case there would be some variability in the scores from one run to the another as such. Some overlay or the other might cause an issue but it's quite rare I guess. Dropped frames can be caused by many factors. For example if I enable uBlock Origin (in Kiwi Browser for Android ) for the Google News website scrolling is noticeably jerky so I keep it disabled.

I set the Thermal Profile to Dynamic Evaluation in FKM which takes care of thermal throttling (the various low-level thermal protection mechanisms are still in place) . Otherwise some OEMs configure it to occur whenever battery temps. cross 35°C which in India is rather easily crossed. I instead set it to 40°C and put Tasker in charge. Some custom ROMs offer a per-app thermal profile feature.
