Please make it habit that if any nurse or staff says that they preparing the medicine at their bay and bringing it just in syringe

then you ask them to do everything in front of your eyes.

Mistakes like wrong medicine instead of the one needed, can happen.

And who knows, may be they even risk you or your relative with bad stock.

It is India, anything possible.

No buyback policy on unused vaccine vials, can’t extend expiry: SII to HC

Rosy Sequeira

MUMBAI: Bombay high court on Thursday sought the central government’s response to the issue of unused vaccine vials even as Serum Institute of India (SII) said it does not have a buyback policy and cannot extend the expiry date of Covishield vials.

SII’s oral response came on petitions by private hospitals who have near-expiry surplus vials. Justices Revati Mohite-Dere and Madhav Jamdar were informed by SII’s advocate Pooja Tidke that the extension of expiry dates of vials “is not possible”.

“There are technical issues which will substantially reduce its efficacy,” said Tidke, adding SII has “251 million doses unused which also have an expiration date”. Each vial contains 10 doses. “I (SII) am faced with a predicament if there is no surge in demand. I will have to bear a loss,” she said.

Tidke said SII does not have a buyback policy but it has an April 9 scheme to give “1.66 doses free of charge for every one dose that is already available with the private hospitals and was live as on April 9”.

The judges said SII must file its reply and whoever falls under its April 9 scheme should avail of it. The advocate of Vijayalaxmi Hospital of Nala Sopara (East), Uday Warunjikar, said, “They (Centre) are keeping mum and should be asked to make their stand clear.”

The judges issued a notice to the Centre and posted the hearing on June 10.

Remember, court cases just bounce from ‘date’ to ‘dste’.

By then, much stock would anyway be unsafe to give to any person.

The corporates too know this.

Will they take the loss and the costs of court cases too?
