For psu bank, SBI for the reason below(can’t find additional 4 reasons, in fact I can’t find them for any psu bank)

1. best internet banking service among all psu banks & comparable/better than many pvt banks.

For pvt banks, go with ICICI

1. mobile banking app has probably the largest no. of options & services for any banking app in India.

2. heard better customer support compared to hdfc & axis.

3. good option for taking personal/business loans at good rates in future(hdfc personal loan rates varies depending on acc type & ironically the so called “premium tier” acc with 1 lakh+ mab actually have higher loan interest rate).

4. Probably the best reliability record for their online banking services compared to other banks.

5. They usually give good offers on accident & health insurance plans to existing customers at 10-20% discount over their normal rates & their accident & health insurance plans are good(myself availed this on the basis of having icici credit card though no bank acc with them).

ICICI cannot beat HDFC in customer support online or offline.
I am using HDFC for last 13yr and ICICI for 8yr. and used both account in multiple city. HDFC staff found very cooperative in any branch most of the time. and ICICI found uncooperative most of the time.
IDFC support is also good in private.

For public bank, choose bank which has branch near to you.

One of the con of icici banks is for transferring money you have to keep with you debit card each and every time for entering grid values even for smaller transactions which is a headache

It’s headache but the purpose is security only. It is not asking grid values everytime unless the merchant is new one.

Does ICICI gives choice of a/c number, say first 4 digits followed by mobile number ? (HDFC does). No input from many dimers in this post. @TigerZindaHay @bohemian @Par_

HDFC gives last 10 or 11 digit choice number but as far as i know it is only for some type of saving a/c only. you can confim while opening a/c.

1. Axis edge rewards points are settled within a week or so in debit cards.
2. i don’t know if there is any limit like hdfc (they credit after 90 days) i have earned 5k+ reward points equivalent to 1000+ within a month and can redeem for vouchers.
3. Their app and internet banking is decent.
4. For me support was good never visited branch.
5. you get special rewards page where you can see which transaction earned how much rewards and which earned 0 unlike many other banks.
6. good offers on purchases.
7. they have their own portal similar to smartbuy.

Yes grin i have axis, hdfc, icici, kotak, sbi etc and axis have best debit card reward system, kotak, icici is non existent.
sbi is okish.
hdfc is kind of bad because of that 90 days wait on millenia. there are other offerings but still prefer something like my axis card where u can virtually pay anywhere and don’t have to wait so much.
I have other accounts also but mentioned major ones.

Regarding credit card also i don’t think axis lacks anywhere. i have fk axis never faced any problem. their statement is best and most transparent but others are also good in this category except kotak.

International fund transfers is also very easy to transact and reliable.

Pvt banking software is complex af for foreign transfer where half of them require to you to goto bank or don’t even have that option

Did you get an e-mail about that?

My area is semi-urban, where MAB for Easy Access account in SEMI URBAN is 5k with initial funding of 6k.
Since I already had LTF FK axis card, I wasn’t able to open an account online.

Approached offline branch and they said to keep MAB 12k and initial funding of 16k.

Is there any way to check the required MAB in-app and is it possible to ask them to reduce MAB requirement to 5k instead of 12k?

no bro , didn’t get any kind of mail.
people on dd were saying the same.

MAB requirement depends upon branch if ur branch is semi urban or rural u have to maintain as per that.

There is no specific option in app to check that.

I don’t think so but once u open u can confirm the mab requirement via chat with axis agent and some have mentioned that they can change branch online also but wouldn’t suggest that.
