BHIM

This is the OG UPI app, what reason anyone have not to use it. Now, usually no app offer cashback on UPI transaction. Atleast by using BHIM your data, financial habits, etc is not being used by companies to make money. Other apps such as Paytm, PhonePe, Amazon use your transaction data to create a profile of yours to identify what, when, where, why you are spending and they use this data to make money and new services that one might or might not require and make money of that as well.

There was a time when these apps use to offer cashbacks but now those offers are either completely vanish or are negligible. So, it is better to use an app that atleast preserves your data.

Use Paytm or Phonepe Have simple interface for UPI payment 1 or 2 click

Also activate UPI lite for under 200 payment without any PIN which will be good for smaller payment

I mostly rely on Amazon & Paytm

I ignore phonepe & Gpay for many reasons

I use Amazon for big transections as in the past they provided excellent cashback without any minimum order requirement

For small payment i prefer Paytm

It's fast

Surprised no one has mentioned Gpay.

Gpay is my go to app; earlier used to use Phonepe but failure rate was more.

Just activate UPI of his bank app itself. It's always the best and simple one. Easy to remember for him

I prefer phonepe over gpay for ease of use. Even bhim is better than gpay.

Totally agree. As you are asking for your father then you either go for BHIM or your bank's official UPI app rather than any 3rd party UPI apps.

Never faced any issue with Gpay and it is fast for me. I do min 20-30 transactions/month and I receive around 40-50 UPIs as well as I have my number linked to Business account.

Consider yourself lucky. GPay gives trouble out of nowhere at wrong time and place

I keep many apps for UPI payments as usually at least one or the other would be still available when my main apps (Paytm, Phonepe) suddenly demand SIM re-verification and recharge expired long back!

Check your primary Bank account ( through which you will be regularly debiting )  and use that same bank's app of UPI

This is because in case of failed transaction-  If u use other bank's / 3rd party apps  then it may happen  that everyone (  App &  debit bank )  keeps blaming on each other because of technical issue.

I Disagree

Mostly UPI do not give cashback but they give rewards some times they are very useful specially Amazon & Phonepe Rewards & CRED give cashback on random basis you can get easily 20-30 rs in a month

BHIM may be good privacy concern but most of time payments fails

OP for you

If you are looking for some rewards use Amazon & Phonepe

If you are looking very fast payments and very less payment fails then use Paytm

Finally Stop using GPay

I think most of the users have suggested Paytm and Phonepe, what i feel is Phonepe and Paytm should launch a dedicated UPI app just to send and receive money, present app is integrated with lots of unwanted features
