Friday with Brainstrom

So, I come up with yet another brainstorming question that allows you to think deeply as a customer and give an interesting idea about how Paytm can be profitable. Do you remember that you’ve looted Paytm a lot either in a loot or in a bug . So, in a return write 1 or 2 or 3 ideas that could change the way Paytm works and make it a profitable company.

(Result) My take on Brainstrom #1: How Zomato/Swiggy can be profitable is here https://link.medium.com/5a1Jt...ob

(It’s okay if you’re not going to post the idea but I request you to read all the ideas of different Dimers and upvote this post to encourage me to post more such amazing posts in future)

Paytm at the end of the day is a finance company. All finance companies make money in one of the three ways 1 borrow cheap from investors (fixed deposit and savings, current account) and lend or invest at a higher rate and thus, earn the margin 2 service charges 3 selling affiliated products/services. Please let me know if you know other avenues.

Hence, Paytm like all other finance firms have to do one or all of the three to make money. Money is an undifferentiated product (commodity), so if your competitors are playing long game of price war using predatory pricing, some one will fail. It looks like BharatPe will be the first one to file bankruptcy among these firms.

They should de clutter their app.. and make it user friendly as well as responsive.. currently I search for everything on their app.. I highly doubt if any one can pin point any section..

Get some good management who has a clear vision on what Paytm needs to be.. Now Paytm is growing in 1000 directions.. but whats the basic strong pillar.. no one knows..

Remove shopping section and maintain a seperate app for that if they want to..

Take NBFC license and create couple of own credit cards and move all the co branded cards(SBI, Citi, HDFC) to their own.. and dont cross the rules..

they have huge user and usage data.. so creating some good CC’s should be easy for them..

if some one wants to pay anything, they should remind paytm.. create some thing like that.. rather than paytm karo ads.. (get ready to let go off some users)

give some pennies if they pay via their Paytm credit cards on thier app.. no cashback on UPI..

these are my cents from what I understand.. Not into MBA or BA.. but from what I understand.. coz I remember using Paytm when very few knew it.. They were recharge portal back then..

NBFC also not allowed to launch their own credit cards,

NBFC companies also need bank tieup.
The credit card business is not profitable unless customers use EMIs, default their payments and later repay 5 to 6 times interest.

I thought that due to recent changes NBFC can give CCs directly, but as you said the changes are still in progress and may take time to make necessary ammendments..

my point was like they become proper all in all Payments service(anything and everything related to payment with proper UI) + Loan and CCs issuing gaints..

They will be profitable when they fire those employees who decided to fix Paytm price around 2000 on its IPO. Once they are able to get rid of such genius employees, i beleive company will become profitable for sure.

By using the word “chindi customer”, you are insulting major part of this platform.
We customers, are the reason for businesses to exist.

instead of putting employees on social and influential groups, ask them actually to work on ideas on office drawing boards.

@looter143  are you a share holder of Paytm or an employee?

I’ve not got any big Paytm Loot, but many have.  We also remember  how many times we’ve been f#@#ked by Paytm.

Question you should ask is What is the USP of Paytm now apart from mass recognition ?

Why would I a well informed customer would choose Paytm over other similar platforms without any monetary reasons ( cashback/ discount) ?

I don’t mean being profitable by looting the end customers. I mean Paytm should focus on adding value to the life of people so that they feel intended to pay the Paytm the amount. I feel great when Paytm notified me of the availability of Covid doses near me in the beginning days of vaccination. This is a great feature. If such kinds of features are gonna come up and if they just charge a minimum cost then I am super happy to pay the sum.

if they allow me to book tatkal ticket at sharp 12 (not 12:15) then I’m happy to pay Paytm service charge

I don’t say to not be the customer of any entity. I just mean that some out of 100% customers could be the founder who can hedge big sums!

Yes, you can be the customer for whom these founders make things and you pay them for value addition.

You misunderstood. I am telling not to use derogatory comments against any customer. Customer is most important for any business. I meant, Who the F cares how much money a founder makes, when his product is not upto mark.

Disable the Fastag from paytm setting also tell the current user that fastag is closed . He will buy a new one and you will also save your time.

Frankly speaking, it’s all the retail investor’s fault, they are foolish to put up their hard-earned cash on something which they knew was not worth it. (Due to IPO buzz)

Paytm just looted the investors and It is so funny to see those investors crying out loud on the internet and screaming about their loss. If they have done the proper analysis before investing in the IPO they would have had better results than this.

Any 12 year Kid who knows how to do google or youtube, could have made better decisions on PAYTM IPO

I do get ur point. I did not invest in Paytm. But just want to say that we are in a strange situation where many useless coins or stocks are making millions for many.

Paytm was a gem at some point especially lockdown time. Even vodafone gone down and value of its stock is up again.

Maybe people invested with a HOPE not with calculations…
