Recently ported a sim to bsnl to use it in feature phone, no. got activated today(kept it in smartphone till activation), it showed no network after inserting in feature phone, upon checking found out that cellone 3g is only available no 2g network of bsnl is available in my area. Is this a common thing (that bsnl is only using 3g)? Any solution? Can’t even port back now.

BSNL hasn’t turn off 2G anywhere. Kind of strange. Maybe temporary. They do stop 3G services in areas where they upgrade to 4G or 3G equipment/data circuit burns out and they never replace but never turn off 2G and provide 3G only. Their 3G signals do disappear when electricity goes off.

I too got same doubt, but upon checking in manual network selection of 2-3 phones only cellone 3g is being shown, no 2g. Other networks have 2g,3g
