I moved to bangalore three years back. At that time I submitted ID proof of my hometown (AP) and just written my local bangalore room address and got the sim. If you go for post paid then you required local address.

Buying Other State SIM Card?

Hi,
I am from Tamilnadu. Soon I’ll be relocating to Bangalore. I had a really hard time in Hyderabad when I tried to buy prepaid GSM sim card. I tried more than ten stores, and all of them demanded “local” id proofs. Sim cards will be given only to people who belong to that state (BSNL ppl said you can get one by producing letter from HR of your company). But when I asked is there any specific rule laid out, no one gave a direct answer. Finally, I managed to get one in my friend’s name. Is it the same situation still? Can I get it in my own name or should I request my friends circle now itself?
Thanks in advance.

My brother moved to bnglr arnd an year back and he easily got a new docomo sim just by showing the Rent Deed/agreement which he got from the landlord
Got a TN bsnl prepaid card only after giving them a letter from the officer in charge
May be due to national security now a days more verification before giving way SIM card.
