Its all something we won’t understand but some internal big game for law avoidance.

Seller cloudtail was doing extremely well, why wouldn’t they continue the business? Maybe because this timeline was pre-decided long back to overcome the then rules. Slowly when nobody bothers anymore, even that rule of ‘not one seller can have more than 25% sale on ecommerce portals’ is not being taken seriously.

I don’t understand this system but what I know is govt never cleared 100% FDI in retail. So how can Amazon “buy out” Cataraman’s share as such? And moreover, why will Amazon “buy out” this venture only to close it? Maybe they’ve found the loopholes they needed or it is just another dummy partner or some shell company. Who knows! But all I’d want is this thing shouldn’t hamper fast delivery experience we got from Cloudtail.

That’s right buddy, but why is catamaran refusing despite profits, is the question…

And cloudtail is indeed transferring all its inventory to other sellers no doubt, but what if those sellers don’t follow the same procedure like cloudtail or what if they don’t deliver as fast a cloudtail did, we’ll suffer, maybe in short term.

Noticed that some electronics which were available on cloudtail are being shifted to Seller named “Electronics Bazaar Store”. This might become one of Amazon’s own small seller to bypass seller quota ecommerce rules. Just like Darshita Electronics, Green Mobiles, Rocket Kommerce.
Appario merchandise has grown too big now.

will have to wait for ratings now, cant trust blindly, lots of scammy sellers exist on amazon , with deep discount (most of them new and with no ratings or terrible ratings)

Amazon will start promoting their own created small sellers soon.
Good way to bypass laws and create such headlines.

Both cloudtail partners decided to drop off after several rounds of problems from central govt and our Indian small traders (bcz they can’t stomach the fact that customers get big discount). Last big problem was when big bazaar was given to reliance instead of amazon tho amazon was eligible and stand corrected in Singapore court.

Theres partiality after partiality, even from supreme court nowadays, no wonder foreign investors are exiting.

I just wish cloudtail will give a heavy clearance sale for the last time so I can stock up for 2 years.

See that’s the thing. Your assumptions are only flavoured by your selfishness & lack of knowledge.

The what you call “problems from central govt” – are not the problems, they’re the rules to solve actual problems which are created by rich corporations like Amazon which misuse their power & position to prevent other from coming up.

Small Indian traders aren’t fighting because they can’t stomach the discounts customers are getting. LOL. Many are okay with that because they know these discounts won’t last forever. Many of them don’t even care about that, infact few of them are buying those products themselves in large quantities on discount to resell. Their fight is because they’re not getting a fair playground & equal opportunity for conducting business on e-marketplace solely because they don’t have millions of foreign money, that too in dollars, to spend on their marketing & discounts.

Try to find out what is ‘buy box’ on Amazon & its eligibility. And when you google about it & find out, then question yourself if you ever noticed that for majority of the products that are sold by many sellers including cloudtail or appario, chances are extremely high that it’ll be either cloudtail or appario whose listing is shown because they won the buy box, even though there is someone else selling for a lesser price. This is true for about 95% of listings where amazon owned sellers are selling any item. Amazon’s answer to that is their ‘algorithm’ decides this priority and that algorithm decides what is best for customer, which is not necessarily true, because they also refuse to share how that algorithm actually works. They also refuse to share metrics. This is where misuse of position is. Several lawsuits in USA has claimed already that Amazon’s algorithm is rigged to favour sellers in which Amazon has some stake or some other preference. There are similar cases in other countries as well, not just India, and Amazon did not win them there as well.

So in order to give FAIR PLAYGROUND & EQUAL OPPORTUNITY to all sellers on any e-marketplace, govt has come up with rules like not one single seller can have more than 25% of total sales of the e-marketplace itself and so on. But only if you understood this pain of INDIAN SELLERS, who are also people like us doing business to earn money, you would have known that these rules are not ‘problems by central govt’.

About Reliance and Amazon, Big Bazaar has not been ‘given’ to Reliance as you’re claiming. Probably you don’t know what the news is & how things worked. When Reliance said in Aug 2020 that it’ll acquire Future Retail, Amazon straightaway went to Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) instead of Indian courts? Why? Undermine Indian law or create external pressure on India? Anyway, right after that SIAC decision in Oct 2020, Reliance decided to acquire the properties, yes way back in Oct 2020. Was Amazon sleeping all this time now that they’re crying foul over the deal in Feb 2022? And fyi, Amazon won its case in Supreme Court in Aug 2021 where SC decided that SIAC order will prevail. And you’re saying that was partiality by SC? Also, Future Retail is still not yet sold to Reliance or Amazon, the case is ongoing. Stakeholders have asked for open bidding. Reliance has only acquired the property leases on which Big Bazaar stores were operating.

And since you don’t really know what’s happening, no cloudtail ain’t no giving any clearance sales for you to hoard and other people to suffer. All of its assets and inventory is being distributed among other sellers on Amazon. The process has already started and is even about to conclude in a couple of weeks.

Also, JV between Catamaran and Amazon is PRIONE, and Prione owns Cloudtail. Only Cloudtail is shutting down, not Prione. After Catamaran’s ext, Amazon will become 100% owner of Prione and Prione’s business will continue as usual. Its just that it will not setup another seller of itself like Cloudtail on Amazon. Prione’s primary business is to enable small Indian sellers and businesses online setup on Amazon, and in a manner of saying, Cloudtail was a conflict of interest in itself for Prione and its other clients.
