Cheer him up dude, he is contributing a lot to the economy.
Buy Automatic (DCT/CVT) if going to use in city drive due to traffic
Avoid gimmicky features like sunroof for saving cost. Also bargain hard to get best discount from multiple dealers.
If you are looking for automatic there isn't many option. Mahindra 3xo of tata Nexon . I would suggest to postpone your purchase till next year. Many new models from Honda amaze nd skoda is coming.
Service cost is a burden if you take cars from some specific companies.
Some cars will give fancy features which also will be a burden in future.
The best advice I got from someone:
If you are buying a new car, buy the lowest base variant ever possible (obviously if you are not feature savvy nerd)
The car companies are using base model price (i.e starting from 5.99 lacs) to attract customers. They are not even interested in discussing the base model. Once you have decided to buy, they will try everything to make you buy higher variants.
Last diwali, I bought Hyundai EXTER EX (Base model) at 6.5L (onroad) in Gujarat. Showroom gave me quotation around 7.23L.
Calculation to understand how you can save a lot money. Here is the example of my Hyundai Exter EX model (Ex showroom price was 599900 at that time)

Thanks a lot for this details
Me too need low maintainance car for daily use for 6.2 ft person
Use case?
Mostly city or highway? Number of kms/month? How convenient are you with manual cars? Diesel or petrol or electric?
Share more about your requirement. Just a suggestion request without details won't get you an apt response.
For first ever car buyer in a family. Preference is ICE with petrol. Just want a car to gradually learn and will eventually help for my aged parents to travel
Buy one with the best FE for your needs.
with current state of roads, fuel cost, traffic congestion and shortage of parking space my advice would be to stick to uber and metro unless u live in a small town which lacks these facilities and if do go ahead and buy then get AMT/CVT/Electric avoid manual transmission at all costs
how about Brezza Vxi AT, Tata Nexon Pure S AMT, Mahindra XUV 3XO MX3 AT?
