Did 2 sims same-Circle porting recently in Karnataka. Exactly 3 days (excluding port requested date) at midnight (4th day around 12:30 am) old sim will lose signal. 1 ported number - Jio sim got signal when I checked at 4 am (didn't check before it). However, other ported number BSNL sim didn't get signal till around 11 am in morning.

For DIFFERENT circle: T + 4 [or 5]
The weekends, regional holidays and national holidays are not counted in the above.
All migrations usually happen after 2200 hours till an hour or so after midnight. (And even the next morning, in case one is porting in into BSNL.type operators).
Thus, service outage depends on many factors.
In cases where no (call to 59059) tele-verification is required from customer' end, the new operator SIM (at times) goes 'live' even if it is not configured/inserted in a device.
At other times, after the 'registered on network' message comes/ the SIM latched on to the operator, you are in business.
Many operators send a clear message AT THE TIME of submitting Port-IN request itself.
The message comes to the alternate number.
Hi, your port-in request for mobile no. 9876543210 to Airtel has been validated by your current operator. The number will be switched to Airtel by 20-02-23 23:37:00. Once your phone displays no network, please insert the Airtel SIM 123456789876543210123456ABCDEFG, restart your phone and call 59059 for tele-verification of your number.
So, in the ππ½aboveππ½ scenario, the retailer whowas doing the tie-up/ target based business, had already punched in the code for the complimentary 28 days unlimited pack.

He (the retailer) is more comfortable with 100% digital process.
Hence if customer gives UIDAI/ Aadhar number and then biometrics (fingerprints/ eyes) are authenticated by the new operator, then the system depreciates the need for (βοΈ59059π) tele-verification for the SIM to be 'activated'.
Logically, if you have two phones.
The old SIM/ old operator is in phone one.
New SIM is in phone two.
Then either immediately after old SIM goes off-line or with 3 to 8 minutes, the new SIM/ port in operator network will start accepting the pings from the new SIM.
So yeah, on paper, the blackout is hardly a few minutes. That too, close to midnight.
In reality, if one does not switch on/switch off the phone with the new SIM or operator issues or rascal operators forcing one to download their application to activate... then delays might happen.
Airtel used to have infamy of forcing Cx to first download Airtel Ghanta app.
So I always keep a basic (2G only) keypad phone handy, to activate new numbers.
This way, sometimes it is okay to humiliate/mock the company when calling customer care.
That how dafaq are you expecting a feature phone user to download your applicationΒΏ
Customer support always have the bypass method or disable the need for useless processes.
But anyway, now even the forced download of Airtel Ghanta app is done away with.
In 100% digital port-in processes, via my regular retailers, I have seen that the complimentary pack is auto-activated even in BSNL.
In earlier days, when instead of thumb impression or when 'server issues' forced the 59059/ tele verification.. often one had to wait few hours or even next day budiness hours to start.. then the information from the retailer was manually acted upon and the complimentary pack added.
So all in all, if your existing operator confirms to the new operator... that no pending dues are there and the new operator receives the NOC, then
ON THE THIRD CALENDAR DAY from submitting the CAF (customer acquisition form) the new operator would put you on-line.
(So if digital CAF submitted on January 01, then ignore 2nd and 3rd, and if there are no holidays in between then by January 4th you are UP and running).ββ

Do we need First owner or his documents while porting...?
But also, if one shares the UPC with someone or if anyone mischievously uses the UPC to have the same number issued for themselves.. then the first owner is reduced to singing.
How to change the ownership of jio sim without porting to any network?

Immediate blood relative can be the new owner.
(NOC or) Clearance from existing owner has to be given 'in person' (physical presence required).
.
I am not from the 'woke' generation... but pretty stupid of anyone to use the 'blood relative' nomenclature.
The verbiage could have been more inclusive to let even adopted siblings, kids be eligible.
.
Also, spouse not being 'blood relative' is technically ineligible to be the new owner.
(I mean, incest is illegal in this country. So spouse being an immediate blood relative is unlikely.)

We can change circle also during porting?

Maximum 4 days are allowed to service providers to complete port requests. Most of them do it in 2 days. Maximum 30 minutes of inactive old sim. You will receive sms on your old SIM for installing new SIM and complete any IVR verification on new SIM for activation, if required.
