I don’t think it is possible anymore, last year friend tried paying a bill more than credit limit by adding fund in advance but txn was declined saying something like max monthly txn limit reached.

H. Overlimit fees – As a service gesture SBI Card may approve certain
transactions attempted by the cardholder which are over and above the
credit limit, please note that if the outstanding amount exceeds the
credit limit, an over-limit fee of 2.5 % of the over-limit amount or Rs.
600, whichever is higher will be levied. Over-limit status may also be
applied because of fees and/or interest charges. Over-limit fees will be
levied for every instance of the outstanding amount exceeding the
credit limit in a billing cycle.
used to work earlier

My cousin paid cc bill of 20k through cred. But later SBI autodebited his account for that 20k as well. How can we get that amount back?
As per my knowledge its not possible as there is max transaction limit is set in the application and it cannot be more than Credit limit.
(Not tried but logically not possible)

If u are planning to do transaction above the approved limit, 1 of 3 things can happen as per probability (Most to Least Probable)
1. Transaction will be declined and you will get message “..declined d/t exceeding the approved limit”.
2. Transaction might be successful but u will be charged for exceeding the approved limit. (referred to as Overdraft charges i think)
3. Transaction might be successful & no charges applied.
Better Alternative to doing transaction above approved limit:- Divided the amount to be paid in 2-3 parts and Pay the amount in multiple transactions (amount to be paid in each transaction < Max Limit of Card).
1st Transaction-> Repayment to restore credit limit-> 2nd Transaction
E.g. Transaction Amount 1.5L and Approved CC limit is 1L.
1st transaction:- 50k
Repayment:- Then Add 50k to your Credit Card via CRED/PAYTM or any other source which repay your credit card bill immediately. Once u see that payment is credited to Card and credit limit is restored to 1L
2nd transaction:- 1L
