Can we have different MRP for the same (weight/quantity) of product?

Today I found out that the MRP of 1mg product is higher than Pharmeasy, Netmeds, Apollo, Amazon pharmacy.

e.g. Glycomet Trio Forte 1mg Tablet
1mg MRP = Rs. 159.7
Pharmeasy MRP = Rs. 145.19

Manufacturers, as of now, are free to print any MRP and they can increase the MRP to a maximum value of their choice and give different discount percentages at different places for the same product. Many manufacturers keep their MRP intentionally higher to show they are giving discounts on it.

e.g.

1. MRP on water bottles is different in Hotels, malls, and grocery shops.
2. MRP is different depending on products sold through online shopping portals (Amazon, Flipkart, Big Basket, etc.) and distribution channels (e.g. distributor, wholesaler, retailer, etc.). To address this, they develop custom SKUs.

Manufacturers also print conditional MRPs like for a city MRP is X and outside it is Y, giving transportation charges as a reason.

For example, the MRP for toast in Nagpur is Rs. 40, while the MRP for toast elsewhere is Rs. 45.

Price difference is due to old stock and new stock.

Sometime there is price error, when ur order gets shipped the billing gets changed, either they refund u or ask u for more.

Comparing water bottle with medicine is waste.

The price hike with the new batch is acceptable.

(Expiry date of medicine as per website - a) 1mg : November, 2023 b) Pharmeasy : June,2024)

I think it happened due to an error.

I am not comparing water bottle with medicine. I have mentioned that MRP on water bottles is different in Hotels, malls, and grocery shops.

I have purchased medicines thru TATA 1mg. - Glycomet Trio Forte 1mg Tablet

MRP is different on website (Rs. 159.7) and received invoice (Rs. 145.19). So, Prices are not increased. It was an error.

The support team apologised for the error and promised to look into it further.

I have seen this a lot with 1mg, I've been ordering with them from a long time, earlier I used to ignore it since 25% discount used to make it cheaper, now I use netmeds or fk meds since their mrp is lower and they give better offers.

Under certain circumstances, it is allowed

1. Products being older stock (Possibility of MRP being different). Brands are allowed to paste revised MRP stickers on medicines and sell them but this doesn't happen with e-commerce portals dealing with warehouses (at least, not on entire stock)

2. Water bottles in hotels and restaurants (legally allowed)

It might seem that MRP is different for products sold on Amazon, Flipkart, BigBasket, Dmart but if you look closely.. either the selling price is MSRP (MRP being higher) or the packaging/product name is slightly different

There are many medicine with high mrp in 1mg, hard to tell if its because of new stock or totally new printed product,

MRP of sugarfree gold 500 pallets is ₹300 in 1mg

While MRP is ₹285 in other pharmacy /amazon / local shops
