Atleast for ICICI you shouldn’t do that. You have to pay the whole amount of statement. For the next month, you can use that CB or refund. Made the same small mistake and paid 500+ around 89 GST

No, refund is a different thing
This is clearly mentioned in TnC as well, check your card TnC
As per me, HDFC/ICICI/HSBC don’t allow. No idea about others

Refund on any credit card will never be adjusted against a generated bill, only if refund comes before bill generation will it be adjusted. In short, you have to pay the generated credit card bill without exception first.

Check how is your refund recorded in the unbilled transactions. If it is starting with IMPS then it is as good as payment. I had received certain refunds from jiomart as IMPS

I just pay balance after minus any credit after statement . Never had problem #hdfc

U can pay after deducting, I too had a refund and did the same this month, it clearly shows unbilled credits which includes ‘refund’ so no issue
Few cards adjust like Citi, but ICICI will not treat refund as payment

I paid only the difference and Had to pay fine (Sbi Card). Contacted cc and got the refund equal to the penalty but after that, I never took such risks!!

If you do not pay the amount mentioned in bill, and if your payment by your calculation is equal to or above the minimum payment amount mentioned in the bill, it will be treated as minimum payment, hence all the T&C of minimum payment will apply. If your payment by your calculation is lesser than the minimum payment amount mentioned in the bill, it will be treated as non payment, hence all the T&C of non payment will apply. This is the general rule. If there are exceptions with your credit card, you have make yourself 100% sure before taking the plunge.

I don’t know how other guys had payment issues with icici, recently I had the same problem where I got the refund after bill generation. At that moment, I wasn’t sure, so I took confirmation from cc about the amount I should pay, they have asked me to pay remaining amount after deducting refunded amount. So I paid in the same way, I didn’t have any outstanding payment afterwards. Better check with the hdfc cc. If you could not connect, will try to help you tomorrow.
