Car scrappage scheme by manufacturers?

Since your RC is still valid for 3 more years - Go for option 2, you can definitely get it repaired for less than 15k from a local shop assuming by replacing child parts or some jugaad when compared with authorized service center. They have contacts to source used good parts from salvaged cars, thats how the scrap business works.

Scrappage policy published by the govt. is itself scrap, there are no proper guidelines or incentives. I only see few cities where the manufacturers like Mahindra have setup their recycling units, nothing I can find in Hyderabad yet.

I have also similar issue like I have Hyundai Accent CREDI (2006) Car is good but now its OLD and Registration is valid till 2026.

I scrapped my 15yr+ Santro 2-3 years back which was in working condition but the registration was expired. Cero team pickup the vehicle from home and scrapped with proof and pics send via email. Got 22k for the car value. 
 

Here’s my lovely car after scrapped. It still breaks my heart cause she served me well for 15 years without any fuss/issues. Got i10 nios sportz to replace Santro.

I spoke with them and they are offering ~30K for my car. My confusion is that whether to pay 30K and get it repaired, use it for the next 3 years (till registration expires) or to get it scrapped for 30k

Was it too old that the last pic of car you have is in black and white format??

There is a good demand of vintage cars as well.

Get it repaired from a trusted local garage, and use it for next 3 years.

You cannot extend the vehicle's registration beyond 20yrs. It will be treated as End of Life.

Nice to know that someone had an experience with Cero. The last time I checked i.e. 2019 they were not catering to Mumbai during then. But it seems that they serve Mumbai now. I wish they were there earlier as I would have given away my Bajaj Chetak for scrapping rather than give it to a local no name person.

Well if you think investing 30k will get you next 3 years, than there’s nothing to think about. Invest it and use as much juice left in the car. Make sure the mechanic can say the same. 

Otherwise, it’s waste of money that even after spending 30k if it breakdown again in few months.

That they can never guarantee...they said that as it is an old car any part can give up any time. I have sent it to a local garage, let's see how it goes. Will keep you guys updated

Well that’s the risk you’ve to take. Good luck bro. Will update for your update. 

Final update:
Got the car repaired by a local mechanic. He sent the engine head to lathe machine shop and got it corrected, replaced the valves and timing belt. Bill came around 17K. I know it is still bit high as he haven't replaced the part but it is less compared to what the showroom service guy was quoting. The car is working smooth now
