Ditched jio sim a while ago to reduce the number of sim cards in hindsight of ARPU by Telecom operators .

Although wasn’t sure it was obvious that calling toll free number would incur charges.
what’s a toll free again? scream

1860 numbers are not toll free. 1800 numbers are toll free. 1860 numbers have always been charged.

+1.

Rather than calling 1860.. call their regular number and ask to transfer call to cc
.

Correct. A lot of companies use this cheap tactic of having a 1800 number for sales and to acquire customers and for After Sales Service they use 1860 numbers fooling a lot of customers to believe the 1860 number is also toll free.

1860 series numbers were never toll free. Only ignorant will assume it’s toll free. These special series (1860) has call charges higher than normal local/STD calls. Companies do this to avoid paying hefty bills (for toll free number) and reduce number of calls.

Only jio provides truly unlimited calls so far including special 1860 numbers! Rest of them (Pvt ones) can do this as well, but they have been enjoying the loot like the other loot of call and data plans.

1860 which looks like and feels like toll free is not free. That how companies take advantage of this toll free lookalike.
