Citigroup announced on April 15 that it will shutter retail banking operations in 13 countries including India and China.

Today itself got my renewal card with 2025 or 26 expiry. Don’t remember now as too drunk. They used to renew for 3 years earlier now I think they change it. How come they can close business shortly when they are renewing cc’s with 4-5 years expiry date.
Will they close all the existing customers card and bank accounts or just sold to another bank?

They rejected my cc aplication many times fnally they got rejected from india
They cannot close bank accounts until clearance from rbi.
Regarding CC business, either they sell off OR reduce the business slowly until all the dues are collected from the users. Zero dues CCs would be closed in couple of months.
They stop the new loans from today and the old loans EMIs would be collected for next 5 to 6 years.
Housing loan customers would be benefitted from this closure, they might offer cashbacks for transferring loans to other banks.

what will happen to corporate cc?
No need to be overly concerned if you are an existing customer – your money is safe and your liabilities (red: credit card bills) still need to be honored.
I’ve heard from friends who are in the banking space, that Kotak is a likely buyer for their Retail Banking division, while many other players (including SBI Cards) is keen on taking over their Credit Card business.

Sad news…. Used citi indian oil. Card since more dan 5 6 years… Awesome service…dey r d reason i started using big basket…. 20% off few yrs back 
… . No issue faced in service..will miss citi…. Competition is good for mkt.. Citi shld have stayed
