Converting Airtel prepaid to postpaid

My family member has Airtel prepaid card but it is registered using another relative's name who lives far away.

If I want to convert this to postpaid, do I need that relative's original documents + signature?

What is the easiest way to convert this prepaid number to postpaid?

If it is from different circle then you can port directly to Airtel Postpaid else port it to another operator and port back to Airtel after 3 months.

Both of these will work.

@Budhe-Baba This is what works.

Postpaid: Go to the store sincerely say your problem, you want to change it to your name. Just give a hint, that if needed you can get into postpaid, but it has to be in your name. Say something like owner doesn't stay here currently or whatever. I believe he will be more than interested to get you into postpaid, he will have his own interests.

MNP: I used this method to get a sim which was in my Dad's name in my name (Dad had passed away few years back). Vi -> Jio.

Both methods I had to give only my docs, so if asked otherwise don't move ahead.. in case system has changed or something.

Aisa nahi hai Karma दादा.

Woh Airtel hai. Jab tak 👃🏼naako chaney nahin chabwa de, tab tak unko chain nahin milta.

Sirf OTP se, bina koi live photo ya biometric verification ke.. conversion hona.. mujhe tou nahin lagta ki Aisi koi 'normal process' hai.

First question is rhetorical, so not responding to it.

For the second question;

Sorry but there is no such 'easiest way".

Airtel allows 'ownership change' so long as the new customer is a 'blood relative' of the old customer.

(I did not probe them about situations where kids are adopted).

But the NOC process even for such change of ownership requires the 'physical' presence and/or live photo type things.

Local incompetent or casual staff can create its own 'situations'. Example https://desidime.com/discussions/sim-ownership-change is of different operator, but people are similar.

The relative who is 'far away' can get the connection changed to postpaid, wherever they are and then send your relatives the postpaid SIM or the access for the e-SIM.

The OP of this thread https://desidime.com/discussions/query-mnp-process-to-transfer-ownership-workarouds or others from thay topic too might have some leads for you.

Consider tagging them, if okay.

The MNP workaround suggested by Eren_yeager above too is an option. But one never knows the plans, rates one gets by the time it comes to a stage where one can start using Airtel postpaid.

MNP is the easiest path for ownership change.

MNP will take minimum 3 months to execute which is huge timeframe!
