Brother i am a CA, i know that atleast.
My question was, whether anyone have done CPA/CFA or not, as i want to know the end to end process and cost saving techniques
@chipi
CFA (USA):
Cost for CFA exam - check their official..dont remember the latest exam price - they have been hiking it over the last few years. There are 3 levels. One registration fee + 3 exam fees. total will exceed USD 2500 I think.
Don't buy the official kaplan / schweser books - way too costly.
There is a guy in Mumbai who supplies photocopies at a very low cost - he couriers it to outstation cities with an additional courier cost. Search for it on the net. In case you don't get his number, DM me... will search within my circles & try to seek if possible.
I don't know anything about it but sometimes I get ads for it on YouTube videos from some guy named Varun from a institution named miles cpa.
🤣
I'm expecting my CFA L3 results by the next month.
Here's how I think you can save on the cost:
1. If you're employed in a mid to large financial services organisation, then high chances they will have reimbursement policy for CFA.
For CPA also, I remember EY used to offer some reimbursements.
2. Scholarships: If your employer doesn't offer any reimbursement, then apply for scholarship. DM me if you want guidance on scholarship essay writing. The CFA institute has two windows for scholarship every year.
3. Study Materials and coaching: Since you have already completed CA, I don't think you require any additional video coaching service. You can just buy Schweser notes and go through these.
If you want to enroll for coaching, many CFA coaching institutes charge exorbitant fees. The cheapest and good one I know is Mark Meldrum but for most Indians it is still hard on our pockets.
Hope the above helps.
Let me know if you need any additional guidance or specific help.
I will be joining KPMG in May, if i join that will pursue CPA only as the job profile requires CPA for further advancements and fast future growth.
If i join any other job profile before that, then will pursue CFA, as my primary interest is in the Finance domain.
CPA is accounting and CFA is finance.
