Credit card bill payment: unable to trace payment

I have paid the Axis bank credit card bill payment on 02 Nov through Paytm .
Paytm gave me confirmation that payment has been deposited to bank and provided me bank reference number.
But Axis Bank denying receiving any payment. They said they can't trace the fund using that bank reference number.
What to do. Please suggest

Whatever be, but it's a scary situation to read these grievances.
Sometimes, I feel like I should close all my CCs and return to the Pre-CC life, like @androgame lives.
I also registered a complaint in RBI and wrote to nodal officers of both Paytm and Axis bank.lets see. Final option is I have to file a legal case with lawyer.
After 3 week of struggle, Paytm nodal officers finally called me and asked my card number saying they will verify with backend. 2 dys back they told me that you hve entered wrong card number and payment credited towards different card and not your card.
I m asking Paytm to tell me which card they credited the payment but chor Paytm denying me sharing information citing privacy reasons.
This is completely fraud.
How can I trust Paytm that they are saying i have entered wrong card number if they are not providing me the details.
paytm asking me to contact bank but without card details what i suppose to tell axis bank.
I registered complaint in rbi and consumer forum against paytm.
Any other things i can do ?
Through Paytm Wallet or UPI?
I am just praying that Axis bank will help to identify that card and reverse the payment
After forcing paytm to look into issue many times, one day all of a sudden payment was credited in Axis with same date of when payment was made (almost one month later)

Even if Paytm made payment to wrong card , wouldn't Axis have found the reference number though not against your account. And how does paytm know what is your correct card number
He shared his CC number with Paytm's nodal officer.
Yes,using the reference number provided by Paytm, Axis can track the CC account the payment was credited to.

this is scary, i never check whether amount gets deposited or not,i pay from different websites( cred, mobikwik,paytm, amazon etc).Will be careful from now on
In december, 2020 I made similar mistake of paying 50000/- to 8509 whereas correct number is 8059. Unfortunately with these both numbers cards are in existence (by initiating a transaction we can check it, if page goes upto otp means card is there with that number). Then I tweeted Axs support team, they asked so many documents viz., payment deduction reflecting (source bank) statement, transaction confirmation (mobikwik) statement, correct card statement & it's image. To initiate the process, they took lot of time but once its initiated it hardly a matter of 7 days to verify and transfer that credit from unintended to correct card. That one month was a sleepless to me. In this entire process, mobikwik didn't helped even a inch, entire help was done Axis bank only. Since then, I am taking utmost care.
I always first add 10 rupees using the credit card in Mobikwik wallet and after that pay the bill so that the card gets saved and no chance of wrong credit card number.
I always pay credit card bill from Paytm and Cred and never face such issue max they take 2 to 3 days. however we have to enter card details twice and can someone enter wrong card details twice. it might be a bug.
AXIS is most pathetic and worst ever Bank (Especially CC department)😈
I always do payment in parts to avoid large headache...smaller headache is easy to take...
As long as they offering some shitty cashbacks to lure customers.. they (axis)are the dogs and having thr days...the day this Cb thing over they will get dumped faster than exes..

You have to take it in writing from axis bank.. an email is fine.. that they have not recd the funds relating to the reference number provided by paytm. Forward their email to paytm. Chances are when u ask for it in writing Axis bank may find the transaction
Yesterday i paid my AXIS credit card bill via neft. Rec'd message of credit in 5 hrs Max. And also the payment is reflecting on the app.... Payment via cred/Paytm etc can mess up sometimes....
