DC, CC lost refund query

I can’t say bro. I don’t have hdfc account

Usually they have account number or the customer ID where the cards are linked to. Its the card that is blocked, but not the account. So any incoming payments should still come. I’ve had positive experience with HDFC/ ICICI CC.

Here is what happened when my card is upgraded. The old card is blocked, but I paid the due amount on both old and new card number in the beginning to see if it works and it worked. Meaning the payments are credited to the account though I paid to the old blocked card.

I would suggest to try talking to customer care again, it will connect to another representative and if you are still not convinced, you can ask them to connect to their manager. You c an hope to get better information.

So, in a nutshell refunds from both dc and cc will come in the account, right?

these card numbers are front facing, but they will have an account number in the backend to connect to different cards.

Again the account numbers for both dc and cc will be different even if they are from same bank.

Yes, refunds should receive to card account. If a card is blocked, only spends from that card will be blocked. Bill Payments/merchant reversals done to that card will still be credited to that card account. Got this info once from a SBI Card cc.

Debit card will be linked to one account number, and credit will be to different account number. The account numbers will not be same is what I’m trying to say. My initial comment could be confusing, hence clarified.

Account no for debit card will be the Savings account linked with the Debit card
Account no for the Credit card will be the credit card accout no.

Both are different.

Thanks. So, in case of cc being blocked the money will come back to cc’s a/c number and eventually to the savings bank account, right?

That Credit card account no. will be having same 16 digits as ur Credit card no.

credit card account (It is internal reference to bank) Even if there is no such number existing, a blocked card can still receive incoming payments. And when a new card is issues, both will be linked.

Better talk to customer care and higher ops and get a confirmation. Don’t go with what I say here.

If cc refunds are still credited to that card but the spends are blocked then how will one be able to use the refunds?

Refund of a previous card transaction will nullify. You no need to use the refund.

This is where I am getting confused. Say outstanding of this card is nil. Then a refund of rs. 2000 is credited to this card after this card is blocked. Now how will one be able to use this refund

A new card will be issued linked to the earlier account. The user should request for a replacement

After issuing a new card, for first 2000 spend you won’t get charged as a credit of 2000 will be present in your card account.

Any net credit received/remained in a blocked card gets transferred to replacement card issued in place of blocked card.
