DCB account closure mess

Guys, DCB brought a different mess

I went to branch for account closure, submitted all the required documents. Since their systems are acting up, waited almost for an hour and finally the balance amount transfer is initiated and I’m requested I will be informed once the account is closed.

I started back home, and during the travel, there is a cash deposit of 1.75L in my account. By the time I reached home, the same amount is transferred to another account. This transfer is done without my consent from bank side.

Now when I asked for explanation, the teller says it is due to her mistake the cash deposit is done.

A few things to keep clear

  • Cash deposit of 1.75L in my account (it is likely going to be self deposit)
  • The same amount is transferred to another account (business account) with out any information or consent from me.
  • Now they are asking my consent (sign on the transfer form) to keep their books clean.

I asked bank to give me in writing on their letter head stating the deposit was due to their clerical error and the transfer is done without my consent. Is that sufficient in case IT babus decide to trouble me sometime in future?

I said I will sign on the transfer form once I’m given the letter stating the same.

What are my options in case I missed any?

Thanks in advance!

Certainly not sufficient and in fact they ask you to prove it then you have to run for DCB representative who will not co-operate then.
You will have to file a written complaint for this and keep it with you along with ack – it can help u in IT notice

So bank’s statement on its letter head is not sufficient?

Written complaint to bank manager?

It is transferred to different account with them. Someone’s business account

They have done it on purpose surely. Ideally when banks credit amount in your account by mistake they reverse it back and later make entries in correct account. This haphazard way to just NEFT it to correct account appears weird to me.

U r right, if it a mistake then bank employee has aright to reverse or roll back any transaction if its wrongly done in any account and in this case they transferred this amount from one person account to another account. They (Bank) are in deep trouble and u also because Bank done it without your consent and you because of 1.75 Lac cash deposit in one shot. I will suggest you to give written complaint to manager and take receipt of it or if they don.t give u receipt then get the email id of branch manager and mail him this issue. If he doen.t sort out the issue, you directly goto ombudsman with all the documents and evidence after 15 days of your complaint. They (Bank)will come to your house to close the matter.

One think want to tell you @andromeda that never gave your consent to them and if u give then its none of their problem after that

It was genuinely a clerical errors from tellers side. Due to other person rushing, teller transferred the funds to other account and issued a DD. I saw another guy in rush to get a DD issued, the day being Saturday and little late in the noon. I’m sure it is not the right thing to do but the folks in bank having this kind of situation for the first time handles this way. Since it is mistake from their side which they readily accepted, I thought I would let it go having enough documentation. All I’m looking for is a way out in case IT folks ask for any explanation on this deposit.

I gave a written complaint to the manager with the below content

There is a erroneous cash deposit (amount value) in my account (number) on so n so date. I also notice that the amount is transferred to another account in the name (XYZ enterprises). I request you to look into the details at the earliest and provide me with clarification

Bank(manager) responded the below mentioned

With regards to your letter dated blah blah wrong cash deposit which was credited to your account (number) amount (value). This is to inform you that the amount has been reversed from your account to correct account number in the name of XYZ Enterprises . Thank you for bringing this error to our attention and we apologized for the inconvenience caused.

Edit: After giving me the acknowledgement, they took my consent on the transfer form for the said amount from my account to the correct account.

1.75l one time deposit is not an issue at all, assuming u do not have or have very less personal cash deposits earlier in your bank accounts(accross all banks) for this FY.
There is a 1 percent chance of automatic notice thru email but then you write and attach complaint letter in reply, nothing to worry.

No IT id going to come to you for this cash deposit
however you can take a letter from bank for your personal satisfaction

Why would they not come? Cash deposits are being discouraged and are also monitored for tax evasions etc
